Concept art of the Beetle, the villain speculated to be featured in Marvel's Spider-Man 2's DLC, was leaked and revealed the character's updated appearance. A release date for Marvel's Spider-Man 2's unconfirmed expansion has not been announced.
Developer Insomniac has suffered from a multitude of leaks in recent months. Most of them stemmed from a ransomware attack late last year when information like Spider-Man 3's villain supposedly being the Green Goblin was revealed. However, Insomniac ran into another issue when a recent update caused a hidden developer menu to be shown to players, which heavily hinted that the Beetle would be a central character in a Spider-Man 2 expansion. While fans continue to wait for official news on this possibility, they can already get a first look at Insomniac's take on the villain.
Twitter user Immortal_Boss73 shared an image of leaked concept art for the Beetle, with the user explaining that the art was included in a previous leak of Insomniac's internal files. The newest version of the Beetle pays homage to previous ones by maintaining its overall bug-like appearance with wings but also updates it by giving the suit a sleek, modernized look with purple and blue-green colors. The suit is full of intricate detail, and its wings appear to be made with some sort of futuristic paneling. Before, Insomniac had earned praise for its strong villain design, and it seems like that trend will continue with the Beetle.
The previously mentioned leak involving a developer menu also hinted that Spider-Man 2's Beetle will be Janice Lincoln, Tombstone's daughter. This lines up with the comics, in which Janice is the most recent character to take up the Beetle's mantle. However, it should be noted that the information regarding Spider-Man 2 DLC stems from leaks and Insomniac has not officially confirmed its plans for it. But if true, the expansion would presumably include new missions, enemies, and more.
Previous leaks also revealed Insomniac's next games, which include Venom, Wolverine, Spider-Man 3, Ratchet & Clank, and X-Men, to be released in that order from 2025 to 2030. One of PlayStation's most prized first-party developers certainly seems to have a full plate, but again, this information stems from leaks and is always subject to change.
Insomniac also had a multiplayer Spider-Man game in the works at one point. A leaked trailer suggested the game would have allowed Spider-heroes from various universes to join together to battle against Marvel enemies. However, the game was apparently canceled long before the leak ever made its way onto the internet.

Assassin's Creed Hexe's protagonist will possess magical abilities, such as a way to possess cats, and to manage some form of fear system, according to a recent report. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 contains several great Easter eggs, but one fan recently pointed out a missed opportunity to include a real-life tribute to one of Marvel’s greatest heroes. While Insomniac’s Spider-Man games are in a separate continuity from other recent Marvel titles like Marvel’s Avengers and Marvel’s Midnight Suns, they still feature clever nods to other famous heroes like Black Panther and Doctor Strange. While exploring the open world of New York City, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 players can visit the Wakanda Embassy and Avengers Tower — and can even pay their respects to late MCU actor Chadwick Boseman at the former.
A mod concept revealed what Gwen Stacy's Ghost Spider would be like if she were included in Insomniac's games. While she was already introduced as one of Peter Parker's most important love interests in the comics before her tragic death at the hands of Green Goblin, Gwen has become a major character in comics and other media recently due to the arrival of her multiversal variant, who was bitten by the fated radioactive spider instead of Peter and goes by the alias Ghost Spider (who has also been referred to as Spider-Gwen).
