One of my favourite booths to stop by at when I visited GenCon this year was the Monster Fight Club booth. Not only were they showing off some amazing terrain and large scale battlemaps, but they were also demoing a board game based on one of my favourite IPs – Borderlands.

I’ve written a lot about remakes and remasters lately, but by and large they have been for games that are already easily available. Where’s access to the titles we really need?

If you want to win me over before I even get your game down to the table to play, have a fantastic insert for all your pieces. I might be jumping a bit ahead on this unboxing article, but honestly Old Salt has one of the better board game inserts I’ve ever seen, and that gets this unboxing off to a good start!

Final Fantasy IX was a timeless celebration of everything the franchise had been up to that point. It celebrated the best of the SNES classics, while improving on what we had loved about VII and VIII. With X, a new era began, and things have never quite been the same.

I’ve produced a few videos around The Witcher: Old World as well as a couple articles here on the website. A comment I often get is, “You can’t really enjoy this game without the expansions, there isn’t enough content.” So after half a dozen games I’ve decided to revisit those comments and see if I agree or not.

My youngest child is in love with Playmobil, and over the past year or so he’s seemed to move away from fantasy sets and into more realistic sets, primarily in the City, Pony, and Country themes. Last week, we built both the City Action Fire Truck and the City Action Ambulance, and both provided a fantastic experience. Final Fantasy XIV is coming to Xbox – and all it took was a decade. I don’t believe in looking a gift horse in the mouth. This is amazing news. But it was the secondary part of this announcement that was more interesting to me.

If you’ve played Summer at Mara, you know that the colourful game was loved by thousands, providing a great farming simulation / life simulation  experience. The game was colourful and fun, full of unique and interesting characters. While the gameplay might have felt a bit repetitive as it released in a year full of similar style games, it was still a great experience, and one I really enjoyed. When Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara was announced, I was intrigued, although cautious when I saw it was a platformer.

There’s been some doom and gloom this week and, as usual, it’s around Xbox. Revenue from Microsoft hardware sales plummeted by 13 per cent. And we should apparently be very, very worried.

PlayStation have a bunch of new hardware on the horizon and it’s a mixed bag. From the confusing Project Q to console behemoths, it’s going to be an expensive 18 months for fans of the brand.

The second wave of Super Mario Movie toys have dropped, and the quality of wave 2 is on par with that in wave one. We saw these at Target in the United States while on vacation, and apparently they are super popular because there were only a few left in total. Thankfully, we have them, so let’s take a look.
