Compared to what we’ve come to expect from Sony where its yearly output of single player games is concerned, 2023 has been a light year, with the recently released Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 being its only major release this year. With no major single player release officially confirmed for 2024 either – with the exception of Team Ninja’s Rise of the Ronin – should we expect next year to be a lighter one as well?
Well, it seems Sony might have some releases in the pipeline that we don’t yet know about in an official capacity. That’s as per game developer shinobi602 – who currently works at Wushu Studios – who said in a recent post on ResetEra that Sony has “other stuff” planned for 2024 besides the aforementioned Rise of the Ronin and Death Stranding 2 (which, curiously enough, doesn’t actually have an official 2024 launch window), before adding, “Whether it makes it or not is another question of course.”
As opposed to how recent years have gone, not much is currently known about what single player games Sony’s first party studios are currently working on, or what could launch in 2024. Reports have said that Marvel’s Wolverine is targeting a Fall 2024 release, though it remains to be seen whether that’s a target Insomniac will be able to hit, having just put out Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Meanwhile, leaks have also claimed that SIE Santa Monica Studio is working on DLC for God of War Ragnarok.

The premise is very simple: a blizzard has landed in town, and school is canceled for the day, allowing for all sorts of mayhem to happen.

The Game Awards 2023 is nearly here, which means it’s also the season of new game reveals. The show is famous for featuring some of the most significant announcements of the year, rivaling the status that E3 once held. The Game Awards has garnered tens of millions of viewers in recent years, making it one of the best times for studios to show off their titles to players. It only makes sense that this year will continue that trend, and it stands to be one of the most exciting years yet, with tons of high-profile games on deck for release in 2024.
Last week, we reported that the Wonder Woman game might feature live service elements following a job ad spotted on the official Warner Bros. website. The listing was noticed just as Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav told investors the gaming division would focus on transforming its biggest franchises into live service titles so that players would spend more time (and money) on them, driving monetization and engagement at higher levels for longer time.
