Sonic Superstars Unveils Funky, New Level Music - Hardcore Gamer

With Sonic Superstars inching closer to its launch, there’s plenty for fans of the blue hedgehog to get excited about. The upcoming game retains a 2D sidescroller look, though it uses 3D assets instead of the pixel art style of Sonic Mania. In the lead-up to the game, we’ve gotten a few gameplay videos and a few music snippets.

Sonic Team and Arzest shared some new information on Sonic Superstars during TGS 2023, including for the new Battle Mode. As revealed in the trailer, the mode supports up to four players locally (and can be played with bots) or eight players online. You can either make a room or join one when playing online. Publisher Sega has released a new animated video for the upcoming side-scrolling title Sonic Superstars. The video, titled Trio of Trouble, introduces us to new characters making their debut with the game, including Fang the Hunter and Trip, along with Dr. Eggman. Check out the video below.

Sega has released an adorable animated short prologue for Sonic Superstars starring the villainous trio Dr. Eggman, Fang the Hunter, and newcomer Trip.

SEGA has been doing right by Sonic The Hedgehog for a while now, and they’re hoping to keep things rolling with the upcoming Sonic Superstars title that’ll be released next month. The game takes things back to the 2D era of play while bringing it into the 3D era of graphics. In the title, you can play Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose as you attempt to foil yet another plot by the villainous Dr. Eggman. But before diving into that title, SEGA has released a special animated prologue highlighting the villains in action and setting up the game’s plot.

For a good few decades the gold standard on how to tank a brand was New Coke.  In 1985 Coke decided to change its flavor, and that went over so well it became the textbook example of the a company being completely disconnected from what its userbase needed.  Then Elon Musk bought Twitter in 2022 and the fallout made the Coke decision seem like corporate management at its most thoughtful, but there’s still enough life left in the platform that this Tuesday’s Unity announcement practically caused it to explode.  When a company that’s as ubiquitous in gaming as Unity decides it wants to compete with 1985 Coke and 2022 Twitter in terms of spiking its brand, people are going to talk.

Sega’s Sonic Superstars is one of many titles the publisher will bring to the Tokyo Game Show later this month. In the meantime, it’s released a new video highlighting the game’s incredible music, composed by Rintaro Soma (who worked on Sonic Frontiers). It’s Pinball Carnival Zone Act 1 and offers a party-like atmosphere for the bright lights.

Sonic Superstars is one of many big titles scheduled to release in October. In the lead-up to the game, we’ve slowly been learning more about what Sonic Team is preparing. There’s a new rival called Trip who’s going to have an interesting backstory. Although Sonic Superstars is ditching the pixel art style of Sonic Mania, it’ll retain the gameplay of classic Sonic titles.
