Sonic Superstars Is On Sale For $35 During Cyber Monday

is a polarizing series in gaming, but it's impossible to deny the strength of its overall legacy. During the early 90s when SEGA was struggling to establish itself as a formidable competitor to Nintendo, Sonic arrived and gave the company the mascot (and the hit game) it needed to convince customers to buy the Genesis/Mega Drive console. Inconsistent release quality, however, has led to mixed reception over the years.

With Sonic the Hedgehog 3 set to introduce Shadow, it's no surprise that fans are hoping the film takes inspiration from Sonic Adventure 2. In fact, some fans have taken this further, hoping the movie features Sonic Adventure 2's iconic theme song, Live & Learn by Crush 40.

Carrying on something of a series tradition, Sega has announced some new free that fans can grab to celebrate the holiday season.

Hot on the heels of a new full-sized Sonic game in Sonic Superstars, the Apple Arcade exclusive Sonic Dream Team might not look like it has much to offer at first. It only has a dozen levels, and all you get control-wise are a D-pad and two buttons. For some, the fact that it’s only available on Apple devices (at least for the time being) is a non-starter all its own. But despite all that, Sonic Dream Team more than manages to justify its existence – in fact, its superb level design and bite-sized missions make it one of the most fun, creative, and enjoyable 3D platformers I’ve played in a long time.

During The Game Awards 2023, Sega announced its plans to revive quite a few of its classic franchises, including Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio. In the press release announcing the revivals, Sega has revealed that the company has felt emboldened to bring back its legacy franchises thanks to the recent successes it has seen with Sonic the Hedgehog.

Sonic Superstars is a side-scrolling platformer available on multiple consoles, but it was always going to have a hard time in 2023 against a critically acclaimed Super Mario title. Speaking as part of its latest financial sales report, publisher SEGA hinted that launching the co-op outing against Nintendo’s latest – as well as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – may not have been the brightest idea.

Apple Arcade has played host to a variety of outstanding games over the years – from Konami’s release of a new side-scrolling Castlevania adventure to Fantasian bringing back the classic Final Fantasy feel to more recent games like Samba Di Amigo getting an exclusive version with a storyline for the service. Today, Sega releases an all-new Sonic game exclusively to Apple Arcade in the form of Sonic Dream Team. This lightning-fast adventure sees a new 3D Sonic game created for the service and allows players to play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Cream, Rouge, and Amy Rose.

will take players through imaginative new dreamscapes as they work to take down Dr. Eggman. Releasing today, the title comes from Sega HARDlight, a Sega-founded developer with a focus on mobile games which has previously produced other titles with the IP like and. An Apple Arcade exclusive, the new title centers around the Reverie, an ancient device capable of making dreams come true.
