Some Helldivers 2 Issues Persist Following Latest Update

Arrowhead Game Studios has confirmed that a number of Helldivers 2 server issues persist following the game's latest update. The developer also shared a suggestion for how Helldivers 2 players can side-step at least one of these problems while it's working on deploying a more permanent solution.
The Swedish studio's latest title was released for the PS5 and PC on February 8. And while the multiplayer shooter has already proven to be a massive hit, having even managed to dethrone Palworld as Steam's best-selling game, its early success did not come without its own unique set of challenges; after approximately one million people bought Helldivers 2 within its first three days from release, its online infrastructure was pushed to its limits and then brought down to its knees. Many players were left unable to log in to the game as a result.
Although Helldivers 2 received an important new update within a day of going live, which was then followed up by another server patch on February 11, some of those issues are still present in the game. That's according to Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt, who has recently taken to Twitter to thank fans for their patience while confirming that the developer is still not done deploying critical fixes for the third-person shooter. The February 11 tweet saw the executive state that the team needed to get «some sleep» but would be back at working on the game «in a few hours.» That work had already resumed as of the following day, at around 5am ET, according to the game's Steam commit history obtained from Valve's public API.
As for the problems that remain, Pilestedt identified two critical ones: login issues and problems with rewards not being tracked correctly within sessions. The former have been plaguing Helldivers 2 since launch and are a direct result of the massive server load that the game is currently experiencing. Pilestedt revealed that Arrowhead had already managed to double the game's Azure server request limit to 20,000 interactions per minute, but that proved to be inadequate because the concurrent player count jumped from 250,000 to 360,000 people as a result, essentially leaving the studio right back where it started.
As for the rewards issue, the executive—who's also the Helldivers 2 creative director—described that problem as «mitigated but not resolved» following the latest patch that rolled out at around 6pm ET on February 11. Rebooting the game has a chance of temporarily resolving this particular problem, Pilestedt said.
