Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court sought the Indian government's response to a PIL against deepfakes. In another development, Nvidia CEO committed to prioritizing AI processor supply to Japan amidst global demand and Japan's $13.6 billion chip investment.

The Resident Evil franchise is a massive one. We’ve seen this franchise thrive over the decades now. With the first game launching on the original PlayStation, Capcom has continued producing mainline installments and a series of spinoffs. However, it wasn’t too long ago that the development team at Capcom opted to bring remakes into the marketplace. Fans have taken up with these remakes, and it’s allowed Capcom to bring out three of them to date. But if you were uncertain if this trend would continue or not, a Capcom developer opted to reveal remakes are not going away anytime soon. 

It's the first day of the last month of 2023, and we might be in for an exciting period in artificial intelligence space as companies continue developing this technology while protest groups keep highlighting its dangers. In the first news, Meta executives said that they found no downside to openly sharing its AI technology. This comes as the tech company keeps releasing open-source versions of its large language models. In other news, a group of visual artists has filed an amended lawsuit against text-to-image generating AI models after a US district judge dismissed parts of the lawsuit last month. It’s no secret that Final Fantasy XVI was a big risk for the company. After the somewhat lukewarm reception to their last mainline entry, they needed to do something big and bold to get gamers’ attention and prove that their series wasn’t growing stale. The answer that they came up with was not only to use the PS5 graphics system to make the game more realistic-looking than ever but to create a mature storyline that pushed what RPGs usually do and kept people engaged. Oh, and they also had it so that characters could turn into giant monsters. That also helped.

Which entry will be remade next?

In recent years Capcom has had a lot of success with Resident Evil remakes, with new versions of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 being major critical and commercial hits. Resident Evil 3 was slightly less successful, although it has its fans (I consider myself one of them). That said, the obvious candidates for Resident Evil remakes have all been done now, so will Capcom continue on with them? At a PlayStation event in Japan RE4 remake director Yasuhiro Anpo seemed to indicate there’s more in the works…

Capcom has been blasting through its Resident Evil gameography, delivering remakes that are arguably just as classic as the source material, and the company says more are on the way.

It won’t come as a surprise to anyone considering the success Capcom has had with past Resident Evil remakes, but the company has plans for more.

Over the last few years, Capcom has released three Resident Evil remakes, and each of them has enjoyed widespread critical and commercial success (even if reception for the Resident Evil 3 remake was relatively a bit muted). Unsurprisingly, then, it seems the company has every intention to keep pumping more of those out.

It’s been confirmed that more Resident Evil remakes will be made in the future, although it’s not currently known which classic horror game will be revamped next.
