Today, Bandai Namco has released a demo for the upcoming open world action RPG Sand Land. Developed by ILCA, the same studio that made One Piece Odyssey, Sand Land is based on a manga series created in 2000 by Akira Toriyama. Given the recent passing of the legendary artist, the game slated to launch in five weeks will be all the more special.
The demo includes only a limited part of the explorable world. There's no story, either, but you can check out playable characters like Beelzebub, Rao, and Thief, as well as vehicles like Battle Tank, Battle Armor, and Motorbike.

The save data of the demo won't carry over to the full game. However, completing the demo ahead of the game's launch will reward players with the following items to enhance vehicles in Spino:
30 B-Grade Steel
30 B-Grade Bolt
The demo can be downloaded now on PC via Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox. The full game will be available on April 26.
For an overview of Sand Land's mechanics, here's an excerpt from the recent video released by Bandai Namco.
In combat, Beelzebub is a ferocious fighter who has access to light and heavy attacks that can be chained both on the ground as well as in the air. Don't forget to dodge in midair and sideways. As you progress in your journey, you will gain points that can be spent to unlock Beelzebub skills. You will be able to power up special skills, such as the ability to turn your body to metal.
Consumable items can increase your attack, defense, and help you recover power of darkness, so make sure to stock up. Also, water is an important resource that you can restock in water supply points and will be consumed to heal your health in case you are about to be defeated.
All vehicles in Sand Land have unique features. The jump bot will bounce over high cliffs, the hover car can float over water to cross dangerous rivers, and the battle armor can move heavy obstacles to open blocked paths. Remember: you can carry up to five capsules, each containing a vehicle at any given time so plan ahead according to the situation and play style.

Today, NVIDIA announced that ZeniMax Online's MMORPG Elder Scrolls Online (which celebrates its 10th anniversary today and will soon release the new Gold Road Chapter) is now available to play via the GeForce NOW cloud platform, though only for Steam and Epic Games Store users. We've inquired as to whether there are plans to support the ESO Launcher, the most popular way to play Elder Scrolls Online. Anyway, Priority and Ultimate users can also take advantage of the game's built-in NVIDIA DLSS and DLAA features (the game was the first to add DLAA two and a half years ago).
Vladimir Putin has signed off on a plan to create Russia's own consoles and Steam-like platform. This is one of nine instructions that are supposed to promote the socio-economic development of the region of Kaliningrad, the Russian exclave located between Lithuania and Poland. The region is a Special Economic Zone where manufacturers can enjoy tax breaks; moreover, a silicon production facility was recently established there.
Following the sales of Saber Interactive (to a new company founded by Saber CEO Matthew Karch) and Gearbox Software (to Take-Two), the Embracer Group held an investors call to confirm the end of its dreaded restructuring program.
A few days ago, Kotaku published a report suggesting Grand Theft Auto 6 may be delayed to late 2025 or even 2026. We didn't report on it because it seemed ephemeral rather than substantial, which Bloomberg's Jason Schreier (formerly of Kotaku himself) has now confirmed.
We knew Gearbox Software was about to be sold by Embracer, and today, Take-Two announced it had reached an agreement to purchase the 25-year-old Texan developer for $460 million.

There's great news for gamers interested in playing Dragon's Dogma 2 without having a beefy PC: NVIDIA has just announced that CAPCOM's open world game will be available at launch via its GeForce NOW cloud platform. Despite the fact that the previous installment is supported on GeForce NOW, the same was far from a given for the sequel. While the Japanese publisher has agreed to add games like Exoprimal, Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7, and Devil May Cry 5 to GFN, Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4 are still nowhere to be seen, and the same goes for Street Fighter 6.

During today's GTC 2024 keynote, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang showed a new AI NPC demo called Covert Protocol. Unlike the Kairos demo demonstrated at CES 2024, which was based on Convai technology, this one is powered by Inworld AI, the other major AI NPC platform geared towards game development. As you may recall, Inworld AI was first added by modder 'Bloc' in games like Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Grand Theft Auto V, though Rockstar quickly took that down to the dismay of the creator.
Convai, the conversational AI NPC platform for games previously featured in NVIDIA's Kairos demo showcased at CES 2024, just shared a slew of announcements for GDC 2024.
The prequel mod Dark Souls Archthrones can finally be tested by fans thanks to a newly released demo. The makers of the mod originally targeted September 2023 for the demo launch, but delays are part of game development and even more so when we're talking about non-professional projects like a mod. Now, however, the demo is here, and it should be a great way for Soulslike fans to tide over
