The team behind 2022’s excellent movie-mystery Immortality is back with not one, but two new projects. Sam Barlow and Half Mermaid have stealthily launched Steam pages for Project C and Project D.
Both projects contain heavy redactions in their page descriptions and info, much like how Immortality was called “Project Ambrosio.” Barlow responded to the teasers getting spotted by accounts like Wario64, though we don’t have much more to go on now besides the pages themselves.
Trying to sneakily put out teasers for 2 games and the internet notices quick! https://t.co/0wBsOC26wY
Project C is the new cinematic… something from Barlow and Half Mermaid, his studio that’s produced both Telling Lies and Immortality. (Barlow’s previous Her Story lists him as the sole developer and publisher.) You will appear to do something for the first time ever in a video game, for what that’s worth.
Meanwhile, Project D is a survival horror game from the Half Mermaid crew. Keywords include “nurse,” “1983,” “nightmare,” and “be careful.” Seems like something worth paying attention to for Silent Hill fans, at the least.
Alongside this news, Barlow and co. also confirmed a partnership with Lost in Cult for a new Design Works book about the making of Immortality. All that, plus Immortality hitting PlayStation today, makes for a big news day for the Half Mermaid team.
It’s interesting to see the Half Mermaid crew tackle two projects, and tease them out at the same time. Immortality was an absolutely captivating game that easily stole a spot in my end-of-year favorites, so I’m keen to see what’s next for them. Both a cinematic work and a survival horror effort makes me curious, though. We really only have a few screenshots and scattered text to go on, though. It’s good fodder for all the House of Leaves fans, I guess.
We’ll learn more about Project C and D soon, hopefully. In the mean time, play Immortality if you haven’t, preferably with the lights off and sitting too close to the monitor.

I wasn't as sold on Half Mermaid's Immortality as the internet at large, but I'll give Sam Barlow as much rope for his FMV games as anyone else. He recently Xeeted about the studio's upcoming projects C and D, described as "next level FMV, hold onto your seats", and "reinventing 3rd person horror again", respectively. The games now have heavily redacted Steam pages, and Barlow revealed a few more details on Kinda Funny Games (helpfully transcribed a bit by VGC if you can't be arsed watching).
Sam Barlow, the creator of the critically acclaimed FMV video game Immortality, has teased two upcoming projects and a third that is currently on hold.
Sam Barlow, known for his work on experimental video games like Her Story, Telling Lies, and more recently Immortality, has announced that he is working on two new games. Currently titled Project C and Project D, both games are going to be distinctly different from each other, with one title being similar to Barlow’s more recent work, while the other would be more reminiscent of older titles that Barlow has worked on like Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.
Sam Barlow — the developer behind acclaimed investigative FMV adventures Immortality, Telling Lies, and Her Story — has announced he's working on two new horror titles, including a third-person survival horror said to be for old school Barlow fans «that played Silent Hill: Shattered Memories back in the day.»
Sam Barlow has announced the next two games from Immortality developer and publisher Half Mermaid.
IMMORTALITY and Telling Lies studio Half Mermaid Productions has opened Steam pages for two new projects titled “Project C██████” and “Project D████.”
The critically-acclaimed Immortality, that was previously only available on consoles through Microsoft's Xbox Series X and S machines, has made its way to the Sony PlayStation 5 today. This title, which used to be available on Xbox’s Game Pass service, was among the highest-rated games of its year, and it even won several prestigious awards.
Half Mermaid, led by Sam Barlow, is known for making video games using FMV, and they often require the player to sort through footage to solve mysteries. But for the studio's next projects, it seems the mystery will begin before the games are even announced – today, two Steam listings were posted on Half Mermaid's developer page, but most of their information is redacted.
343 Industries had an interesting message at the end of their recent Halo Infinite January Update, which was the livestream the studio held shortly after last week’s Xbox Developer Direct.
Halo Infinite didn’t quite hit the way 343 Industries and Microsoft would have hoped it would, and it seems the studio is ready to begin winding down support for the shooter- or at least start taking the initial steps in that process, with 343 Industries having announced that Halo Infinite won’t receive any new seasons going forward, instead adopting an Operations model.
Halo Infinite won't receive a sixth season update and is moving away from the 'seasons' model entirely. Instead, on January 30th it'll receive a new arena map, a new operation and a handful of other new features, and it'll continue to be updated with shorter "Operation" battle passes in future.
