Immortality creator teases two upcoming games, promises a 'next level FMV' and the 'reinventing' of 3rd person horror

Following the company’s fiscal year 2024/2025 earnings report, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick provided some updates on Grand Theft Auto 6. Currently planned to launch next year, he clarified that it’s unlikely to arrive before April 2025. Upon its long-awaited announcement in December, Grand Theft Auto 6 was handed a 2025 launch window, and in its recent quarterly fiscal report, Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive reiterated that window, but when exactly in 2025 will the game be releasing? Judging by Take-Two’s revised bookings forecast for fiscal year 2024/25, the game might not release until at least April 2025.

I wasn't as sold on Half Mermaid's Immortality as the internet at large, but I'll give Sam Barlow as much rope for his FMV games as anyone else. He recently Xeeted about the studio's upcoming projects C and D, described as "next level FMV, hold onto your seats", and "reinventing 3rd person horror again", respectively. The games now have heavily redacted Steam pages, and Barlow revealed a few more details on Kinda Funny Games (helpfully transcribed a bit by VGC if you can't be arsed watching).

Following the reveal of Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, developer MachineGames’ decision to go predominantly first-person for the game has become perhaps its biggest talking point.

From its hand-to-hand combat and its fully simulated whip to its focus on cinematic set pieces and the fact that it’s going to be a primarily first-person experience, there’s plenty about Indiana Jones and the Great Circle that has been revealed by developer MachineGames, though some questions have still yet to be answered. For instance, how is the game going to be structured? Is it going to be a linear experience, as you’d expect from a cinematic action-adventure game such as this one, or will it afford room for open-ended exploration?
