With Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launching last month and becoming the fastest-selling first-party title for PlayStation, it’s interesting to see what Sony has planned for next year. Team Ninja’s Rise of the Ronin, an open-world action RPG set in the Bakumatsu era, is coming, but a release date hasn’t been announced.
That may change in the coming days, as it’s suddenly appeared for wishlisting on the PlayStation Store. There’s no other information save for the “Release date to be determined” and an official description, but a launch date announcement could be coming soon. Then again, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 became available to wishlist in December 2022 and wouldn’t receive a definite release date until Summer Game Fest in June 2023.
With The Game Awards 2023 on December 7th, Rise of the Ronin may receive a new trailer and details. Perhaps Koei Tecmo and Sony could announce a release window at the show, with a proper date to be revealed in the coming months. Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.

With the series’ action built around the incredible manoeuvrability and momentum of the Omni-Directional Mobility gear, the genuine unnerving threat of the titans, and the relatively fragility of its human heroes, it’s just primed to be mined for video game inspiration.
