Initially announced for Japan, Koei Tecmo’s Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator is launching in 2024 for iOS, Android and PC via Steam. Developed by Akatsuki Games, it’s a free-to-play RPG with gacha elements. Check out the cinematic trailer below.
Set in Lantarna, a kingdom where alchemy has been forgotten, players control Resna, who wants to spread it to the world. She ventures to World’s End for its source and can take help from “Wanderers,” iconic characters from other games. These include past protagonists like Reisalin “Ryza” Stout, Firis Mistlud, Ayesha Altugle, Totooria “Totori” Helmold, Rorolina “Rorona” Frixell and many more.
It’s worth noting that stamina isn’t required to progress the story, and the core gameplay loop involved gathering materials for synthesis from dungeons and Score Battles. Synthesis utilizes mana (which recovers over time) for creating items. Combat is also timeline-based, with each character having three skills and unleashing Burst skills.
There are several other elements of free-to-play RPGs, including Training Quests, Materials Quests, and the Grow Board for utilizing materials to enhance characters. Stay tuned for more details en route to its release next year.
