Gunfire Games’ Remnant 2 has been a success for the studio, selling over one million copies in its launch week and doubling its predecessor’s peak concurrent players on Steam. Though many have plunged into its depths and found all kinds of secrets, perhaps the craziest is an entire Archetype that required datamining to unlock.
According to community members on Reddit, specific items are required to unlock a red door in the Labyrinth. Once that’s done, you can venture into the Backrooms for a limited time to pick up the Strange Box Engram and other items. Take it back to Wallace, and you can unlock the Archon, which specializes in Weapon Mods and Mod Power generation.
On Twitter, principal designer Ben Cureton confirmed that datamining was necessary to unlock the Archon. “We knew we couldn’t stop datamining, so we leaned into it and created an entire Archetype that could be shared with the community once revealed by those with the ability to see between worlds.”
It’s crazy but is in line with Cureton’s earlier comment about how “No one has seen or obtained 100 percent” that Remnant 2 has to offer. One has to wonder what other secrets lay in wait.
Remnant 2 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Check out our review here.

, one must penetrate the code itself.

One of the focuses of the recently released RPG-shooter Remnant II is build crafting, with the game’s new Archetypes being at the core of that experience. There are more than 10 of these Archetypes, with some being much more complex to unlock than others. In fact, the Archon Archetype went undiscovered for several days until dataminers managed to figure out all the required steps (developer Gunfire Games specifically designed it so only dataminers could figure out the process). That said, while dataminers found the method for unlocking the Archon Archetype, you don’t need to be a dataminer to do it – there is a regular in-game way.
Remnant II is doing very well for itself. Just yesterday, Gunfire Games and Gearbox Publishing announced that the Soulslike third-person shooter game already sold over a million units, with PC registering over double the first game's concurrent player peak on Steam.
It's been revealed that there's a secret Remnant 2 class hidden deep in the game by devs — and they've done it on purpose—those cheeky devils.
Remnant 2 is doing alright for itself; not only has the Souls-esque procedural shooter secured some extremely positive reviews, it's also selling well too; and amid all the general positivity around its release, there's a bit more fun news courtesy of a whole new secret class that developer Gunfire Games squirrelled away for dataminers to find.
The trait system and progression blockers are being fixed.
The school holidays have begun which, predictably means that it’s been raining and drizzling up and down the country. Luckily, we have the technology to deal with the rain – we can sit inside playing video games. This week I’ve been playing loads of multiplayer, first in Exoprimal, and second in Remnant II. I’ve had a whole hell of a good time with them both, though one is clearly superior than the other. Can you guess which one it is? Besides these two, I’ve carried on playing more Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp because… well, it’s Advance Wars.
Remnant II has been referred to as a “looter-shooter” by some, but the amount of weapons and gear you’ll find out in the game’s world is actually pretty limited. That said, there are a few secrets to find, including the Chicago Typewriter. Essentially a version of the classic Tommy gun, this is not only an effective weapon, but likely a fun reference to other games that have had their own Chicago Typewriters, like the Resident Evil series. So, how do you find it? It’s not too tough if you know how. Follow these steps and you’ll be rubbing out dirty rats in no time…
There's only one right answer here.
