Remake of strange, rare R-Type Tactics 1 & 2 to release in Fall 2024

As the countdown continues toward a certain sequel with everyone on the edge of their seats, given what might happen within it, let’s not forget what started this whole thing. Specifically, let’s not forget how great Final Fantasy VII Remake was, as it was a title that many wondered about regarding quality for some time. After all, the game had a VERY bumpy development cycle, to the extent that it was released many years after it was first announced, and there were all sorts of rumors about what the heck was going on during that point. But when it was released, it was everything fans could’ve hoped for, and more.

Idea Factory International will release romance visual novel DATE A LIVE: Ren Dystopia for PC via Steam in 2024 worldwide, the publisher announced. It will support Japanese audio, and English, Japanese, and Traditional Chinese subtitles.

Vertical scrolling shoot ’em up TriggerHeart EXELICA will launch for Switch in the west in 2024, developer Cosmo Machia announced. Red Art Games will distribute the physical release in both North America and Europe.

WiZmans World Re:Try will launch for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Switch on May 30 in Japan, followed by Xbox One and PC via Steam later in 2024, publisher City Connection announced.

After the packed year that was 2023, it feels like 2024 may be a bit more of a bridge year, although there’s still plenty for the action fan to look forward to over the next 12 months. A lot of this year’s action games are going big, with Rise of the Ronin and Star Wars Outlaws being full open world, and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II at the very least being much larger than its predecessor (Ninja Theory hasn’t confirmed whether they’re going outright open-world yet). Certainly, everything on this list is pushing the technical bar hard, whether it be the dizzying action of Stellar Blade or the UE5 visuals of Metal Gear Solid Delta. The Gravity Rush movie just got a surprise glimpse during Sony's CES 2024 presentation. No release or plot details were revealed but the footage, a showcase for Torchlight — the company's newest visualisation tech — showed one of the characters leaping off a building, straight into some rubble dominated by a red, winged demon ready to fight back. The video largely cuts between CGI and motion capture clips, proving that previous reports about it being a live-action adaptation were wrong. Anna Mastro (Secret Society of Second Born Royals) was attached to direct the film then, from a script by Emily Jerome (Panopticon), marking her second writing gig.

OpenAI boss Sam Altman will not appear at the CES trade show in Las Vegas next week. But the generative artificial-intelligence fever his startup set off last year will be on full display as gadget makers race to find consumer uses for the technology.

While 2023 was a standout year for PC Games, with major releases like,, and the remake of all launching to massive success and critical acclaim, there's still plenty to look forward to in 2024 — especially with several games and franchises set to receive highly-anticipated sequels. With many games initially announced in 2023 and earlier years set to finally be released in 2024, the year is set to receive a lineup of games on par with the releases of the previous year.

Publisher Game Source Entertainment updated plans on a handful of titles, including deck-building roguelite Lost in Fantaland (via Gematsu). The isometric strategy game is currently in Early Access on PC, and it’s coming to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch this June.
