Record 33.7m concurrent players log onto Steam

The runaway success of Palworld continues as the game has once again shattered its concurrent player count on Steam with millions of active users. The launch of the mash-up of survival and monster-catching games last week has seen overwhelming popularity, taking the internet by storm and seeing players flock to the game. The newest game from developer Pocket Pair would sell over 7 million copies on Steam within just five days of its launch, also releasing Day 1 on Xbox Game Pass. Now, the game has once again exceeded one of its own records.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth received widespread critical acclaim from critics in the lead-up to its release, becoming the highest-rated game in the series to date, and it seems that’s being reflected in how the game is performing. Having launched earlier today, the game has got off to a solid start, if its Steam numbers are any indication.

Palworld has reached another impressive milestone, passing two million concurrent players on Steam. Palworld's unique formula has seen it skyrocket up the charts after the game's recent release.

Palworld has eclipsed two million concurrent players on Steam, becoming only the second-ever game on Valve's platform to do so.

Palworld has had a pretty significant player base since its launch into Early Access on January 19, already hitting over 7 million purchases. But, alongside its ever-growing purchase figures, the concurrent players of Palworld is representative of just how popular this critter-collecting survival game has become. 

Palworld, that survival game mashup, continues to grow in popularity. In the past 24 hours, its peak concurrent player count reached 1,864,421, the second highest of any game on Steam, ever. It took that spot from Counter-Strike 2 and the only game to reach higher is now PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, aka Plunkbat, aka PUBG.

Palworld now has the second highest concurrent player count in Steam‘s history.

Palworld has now eclipsed Counter-Strike 2's all-time concurrent player record to take the number two spot on Steam's list of most concurrent players ever.

After crossing 1.2 million concurrent players on Steam and selling over five million copies, Palworld’s hot streak continues. It now has 1,582,482 peak concurrent players and is the third-highest concurrently played game on Steam yet. Though it’s still behind PUBG: Battlegrounds and Counter-Strike 2, it’s surpassed the likes of Lost Ark (1,325,305) and Dota 2 (1,295,114) in all-time peak concurrent player counts.

Palworld, an open-world action-adventure title where players can combat and capture Pokemon-like creatures, has become a phenomenon, rising to the top of Steam charts days within launch. The game, which also incorporates elements of the survival genre, now has the fifth-highest peak concurrent players in the history of the Valve storefront, going past heavyweight titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring and Hogwarts Legacy. Palword developers Pocketpair also confirmed Monday that the game has sold over five million copies within three days of launch.

Palworld’s riotous success has been startling to see. Following its early access launch last week, it’s surpassed key sales milestone at an alarming rate, and at last count, stood at 4 million copies sold in just three days. Unsurprisingly, that’s reflected in its player engagement numbers as well.

Just days after its early access release, Pocket Pair’s Palworld has set another momentous milestone by surpassing Elden Ring’s and Cyberpunk 2077’s concurrent player count on Steam. While the title was not one of 2024’s anticipated games for some, it has surprisingly become a worldwide hit, quickly topping the charts.
