Sony has officially revealed the three games coming to the Premium tier of the PlayStation Plus subscription service on April 16, all of which originally debuted on the PS1. The Premium tier of PlayStation Plus is all about giving subscribers access to retro games from legacy platforms. One of the most heavily-featured platforms on PS Plus Premium is the original PS1, which has an extensive library of classic games.
PS Plus Premium features some of the best PS1 games ever made, giving subscribers the chance to revisit some of the platform's most memorable titles. The PS Plus Premium lineup is updated each month to include even more classic titles, with the April 2024 offerings all representing the PS1.
As announced by Sony, the new PS Plus Premium games for April 2024 include Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Star Wars: Rebel Assault 2 — The Hidden Empire, and MediEvil. Out of these, the only one that PS Plus Premium subscribers didn't know about in advance is Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, a horror game that originally released for the console all the way back in 2001. The fourth entry in the Alone in the Dark series, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare earned mixed reviews at the time of its release, but there are those who remember it fondly.
Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare making its debut in the PS Plus Premium catalog comes at a rather fitting time. It was just recently that a brand-new Alone in the Dark game was released for PS5, so it's safe to say some fans may be feeling nostalgic for the older games in the long-running survival-horror franchise. Anyone wanting to take a trip down memory lane can check out Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare through their PS Plus Premium subscription on April 16.
While PS Plus Premium subscribers may be excited to play these retro games on April 16, it should be noted that these are the original PlayStation versions of the games, so they may be missing out on some of the modern features that other PS1 games are afforded through PS Plus. It's unlikely that any of the games will have PlayStation trophy support, for example, so fans should keep that in mind.
PS Plus Premium subscribers get to play a lot more than just retro games. They also have access to everything added to the PS Plus Essential and Extra tiers as well, so all the new PS Plus Extra games for April 2024 will also be available to Premium subscribers.
The Sony PlayStation 5 console is one of the most popular gaming machines currently with a fast SSD, a custom AMD APU, and 16GB of GDDR6 console memory, making it one of the best options on the market. It also happens to have a surprising number of console exclusives and currently trades at a discount at multiple retailers

Bethesda dropped the Next-Gen Update for Fallout 4 last week on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, adding native 4K support, free new Creation Club content and more. However, it was beset by issues and confusion, especially regarding who received the upgrade on PS5.
The Fallout 4 free next-gen upgrade is now available to PlayStation Plus subscribers, albeit with an odd exclusion. Bethesda rolled out the next-gen update on April 25 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, but members of PlayStation Plus who obtained the game through the service found themselves locked out of the update, leading many to purchase Fallout 4 separately to upgrade it to the next-gen version.
The long-awaited Fallout 4 next-gen update is out now, but PlayStation Plus subscribers are having trouble playing it. Fallout 4 fans have been waiting years for the popular open world RPG to get a native release on PS5 and Xbox Series X, and luckily, their wish has finally been granted. As of now, Fallout 4 players on all platforms can download the next-gen upgrade completely free of charge.
Sony routinely adds new games to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, a curated library of PS4 and PS5 titles that’s accessible to those subscribed to PlayStation Plus’ Extra and Premium tiers at no additional cost. As is the case with all such subscription services though, the PS Plus Game Catalog’s library of games is a rolling one that also routinely sees games being removed.
Subscribers to the Extra tier of the PlayStation Plus subscription service should note that seven Final Fantasy games are set to leave the lineup on May 21, with 18 other titles getting the boot as well. Those who are signed up to the Essential tier of PlayStation Plus can keep those games forever as long as they stay subscribed, but the games that make up the Extra and Premium tiers are available on a rotating basis.
The PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium catalog is expanding to include 14 new games today. The April 2024 additions to PS Plus even include one day-one release.
A «major» Palworld update is scheduled for this summer, though it won't have the previously-promised PvP Arena. Palworld recently made an appearance at the Triple-I Initiative showcase, a special event dedicated to revealing new information about upcoming indie games.
Sony has revealed the slate of games joining the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog in April. In the coming weeks, PS Plus Extra and Deluxe/Premium tier members will get access to deep-sea exploration RPG Dave the Diver, Metroidvania action title Tales of Kenzera: Zau, indie platformer Animal Well, open-world racing title Crew 2, action platformer Raji: An Ancient Epic and more. Most of these games will be available on the PS Plus catalogue on April 16. Tales of Kenzera: Zau and Animal Well, on the other hand, will join the service as day-one launch titles on April 23 and May 9, respectively.
PlayStation Plus subscribers have a lot to look forward to in the near future, and May 9 is one date that marks a particularly exciting addition to the service. PlayStation Plus offers both a rotating library of monthly games and, on its Extra and Premium tiers, a less transient catalog of titles both classic and new. Accessing any PlayStation Plus perks requires a subscription, but that also throws online access for multiplayer services and more into the mix.
Sony has announced its next wave of titles for the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, accessible for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers. Animal Well and Tales of Kenzera: ZAU are mentioned, but the former is out on May 9th, while the latter launches on April 23rd. The remaining titles will arrive on April 16th for subscribers.
PlayStation has officially confirmed Animal Well as a day one game for the Extra and Premium tiers of PlayStation Plus. While Xbox Game Pass features more day one games on average, PlayStation Plus has added its fair share of day one games over the years as well. In fact, a day one game is coming to the subscription service later this month.
