Pokémon Trading Card Game Classic revives old cards with £400 set

The Vincent Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam said Saturday it would no longer hand out a prized Pokemon card after the giveaway sparked crushes by "scalpers" reselling it for exorbitant prices. Launched with great fanfare last month to mark the museum's 50th anniversary, the collaboration with Pokemon aimed to inspire younger visitors and included exhibitions on the artist's links with Japan.

There are so many Pokemon plushes that if you want to start collecting them now, you're best off picking a particular category and sticking to it. Whether it's a certain type, Pokemon from a specific region, or maybe even just Pikachu plushes - there's enough of them. A popular option is Pokemon's sleeping plushes, a growing category that features Pokemon in a sleepy state and recently got a few new additions including Cubone, Slowpoke, and Chikorita.

The new Pokémon drama won’t look anything like the existing games or anime — instead, it’s taking Pokémon into live-action. The upcoming TV show, which translates to Cram Adventures Into a Pocket and is more casually called Pokétsume, got a new trailer on Thursday, showing a bit of what viewers can expect.

The most expensive cards of all time have now seen sales that set new benchmarks for how much money collectors would be willing to invest. The has always been a lucrative arm of the franchise, with some extremely rare cards out there fetching unbelievable prices. A whole host of cards from across the history of the have climbed to significant values, but the cream of the crop is on another level entirely.

When we first heard that Japan would make a live-action Pokemon series, we felt, “It was about time!” But then we listened more to what they had to say about what they were making, and admittedly, our eyebrows went way up. Because this wasn’t a series about a live-action trainer going around the world and catching Pokemon, this was a series set in our world about a young woman who needed the video game series to get through a tough period in her life. It sounded both very weird and “very Japanese.” And now, PokéTsume has gotten its first trailer.
