2024 hasn't even started yet and it's already gearing up to be an exciting year for Pokemon TCG players. New stacking tins launching in the new year have been revealed, and you can also pre-order Paldean Fates products if you're lucky enough to find some. I thought the same would apply to the Paldea Adventure Chest shortly after its unveiling a couple of weeks ago, but heading toward the end of 2023, pre-orders are still available for the new set.
While GameStop appears to have sold out of the Adventure Chest for the time being, the link below to the set's store page on Best Buy still lets you pre-order the product ready for its release in March. Priced at $49.99, you'll get a lot more than just the snazzy-looking box with Pikachu and Pawmo on the outside. Waiting within are seven foil promo cards, including Sprigatito ex, Tandemaus, and Maushold ex.
As well as a guarantee that you'll have seven shiny new cards for your collection, the Adventure Chest also comes with six booster packs. Those alone account for almost half its price. Also in the box is a sheet of stickers and a special edition squishy Pikachu toy. If you do find this info in time to grab a pre-order below, you'll have to wait a while before getting your hands on the chest. Its release date is currently slated for March 1, 2024.
The Pokemon TCG's Paldea Adventure Chest includes seven foil promo cards, six boosters packs, and other items including a special squishy Pikachu, presumably a stress toy you can squeeze whenever you're getting beaten using your new cards.
You may well have to hang your hat on the various TCG products coming in the first few months of 2024 because, as it stands, there's not much else on the Pokemon front. That will almost certainly change in the coming months, of course, but for now, there are no new Pokemon games coming next year. There's every chance The Pokemon Company is saving those announcements for Pokemon Day on February 27.
There's also every chance The Pokemon Company is waiting for Nintendo to announce its new console before it can reveal what exactly it and Game Freak have been cooking up. If you've pre-ordered all the TCG products you can but you still have Pokemon money burning a hole in your pocket, maybe check out the franchise's recent crossover with high-end fashion brand, Fendi.
Palworld's devs have bizarrely assured its community that it isn't a scam, and will definitely release later this week on January 19 for real.
As the release of the (deep breath) Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft approaches (yes, that is its full and official Steam title) on February 14th, developers Aspyr have detailed some of the game's new features over on the PlayStation Blog, and how they've approached bringing the art, controls and effects up to date for 2023. Personally, I'm extremely pleased to see they've added a photo mode, for example, as I spent inordinate amounts of time making Lara do creepy side-eye smiles during inappropriate Shadow Of The Tomb Raider scenes. But I'm also heartened to see they've kept in the original tank controls as an optional extra, alongside a more modern control scheme to make them more approachable.
Pokemon has been incredibly busy already in 2024 on the Funko Pop! front. What appears to be a Pearlescent Lucario has been teased, along with five other unrevealed figures coming soon, and Luxray, Grookey, and Wooloo have made their Pop! debuts. On top of all that, an image of a Deluxe Funko Pop! Moment recreating the very first decision trainers ever had to make in a Pokemon game surfaced online last week, and now that set is available to buy.

Alienware debuted two new QD-OLED gaming monitors during CES 2024, and they’re already available for purchase. Compared to standard monitor display tech, including even the best IPS and VA monitors out there, QD-OLED offers unparalleled contrast and deep blacks for a more realistic and accurate picture. This QD-OLED panel type is slightly brighter than traditional OLED, and shares its knack for fantastic viewing angles.
The Pokemon Funko Pop! scene has started 2024 with a bang. Not only via the tease of a Pearlescent Lucario, hopefully available soon, but also the unveiling of three new figures, all of which are Pokemon making their Funko debuts. Luxray, Grookey, and Wooloo Funko Pops were all shown off for the first time earlier this week, and not only can you pre-order the trio at Amazon right now, but their release dates have also been confirmed.
