Pokémon Presents February 2024: How to watch and what to expect

After a winter barrage of award shows — the Emmys, the Golden Globes, the Grammys — the grandaddy of them all, the Academy Awards, are around the corner. The 96th Oscars may be a coronation for “Oppenheimer,” which comes in with a leading 13 nominations, though other films, including “Barbie,” “Killers of the Flower Moon” and “Poor Things” are in the mix.

Niantic has officially announced Pokemon GO Fest 2024, revealing its dates, locations, and ticket prices, among other details. The biggest Pokemon GO event of the year will be held over three extended weekends starting in late May and will conclude with a global event in mid-July.

Microsoft will air its second-ever Xbox Partner Preview showcase later this week. It established the format in 2023 as a Nintendo Direct-style presentation where Microsoft can highlight third-party titles coming soon to Xbox platforms. Last year’s show included titles like Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and The Finals, while this March’s show will feature games like Tales of Kenzera: Zau and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess.

The cold, calculated trainer in this group, Arlo has a variety of Pokémon with varied types that can be hard to counter. Only those with a carefully selected team will have a chance to win against Arlo's powerful roster.

Once again, former Team Rocket leader Giovanni returns to in March 2024 with a new team for you to beat. This past Gym Leader challenges you once again, this time for a chance to capture the Legendary Pokémon Kyogre from the Hoenn region. Defeating this villain also allows you to advance your Rocket Special Research for additional rewards you won't want to miss.

Building a Rocket Radar will allow you to try and beat the devious members of Team Rocket in in battle, including the calm and calculated Sierra. This leader of the infamous criminal organization has a team of strong Pokémon that can be a difficult challenge for any trainer. Deadly Shadow Pokémon on Sierra's roster can easily be a match for even the best pocket monsters in your collection.

This March’s new games are a lot more niche than those released so far in 2024, but they are shaping up to be some of the best in their respective genres. Princess Peach is getting her first starring role in a game in over 18 years, while franchises like Alone in the Dark and Dragon’s Dogma are making a comeback after long dormancies. March 22, in particular, looks like it will be a busy day with three AAA games all launching alongside each other.

Pokemon Masters EX has revealed a new event to celebrate the game's 4.5-year anniversary, adding two new Sync Pairs to the game and giving out free gems. Since the game's debut in late 2019, developer DeNA has brought a plethora of characters from both main-series Pokemon games and the Pokemon anime to the mobile spinoff. The mobile game made waves when it finally added Ash and his Pikachu to the game in late 2022, marking the long-awaited appearance of the anime's iconic protagonist. Now, Pokemon Masters EX is welcoming two new Sync Pairs, including a notable addition from Scarlet and Violet.
