PlayStation has announced that a new State of Play presentation will air at 2 PM PST/5 PM EST on September 14. This stream will focus on indies and third-party games releasing in Fall 2023 and beyond.
As stated by the PlayStation Blog, the broadcast will showcase updates to previously announced games coming to PlayStation consoles, including PlayStation VR2, which means there will likely be no new major announcements. As for the games that could possibly show up, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora are likely as they are slated to launch later this year.
Other major third-party contenders include Dontnod's Banishers: Ghost of New Eden, Alan Wake 2, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, and Ghostrunner 2. Going beyond 2023, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Persona 3 Reload are potential candidates too.

In terms of indie games, Annapurna's Cocoon and Ironwood's Pacific Drive come to mind. Will Hollow Knight: Silksong finally appear? Most likely not, but we can always hope.
Despite the focus being third-party and indie games, PlayStation doesn't explicitly say that first-party titles won't be shown. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is launching next month, so Insomniac Games will likely show it off one last time before then. Helldivers 2 may make an appearance as well.

Well, it looks like we’ve got an E3 in September on our hands. Earlier today, it was announced a big Nintendo Direct was coming tomorrow (September 14) and now Sony has followed suit, saying they’ll also be bringing us a State of Play show on the same day. Thankfully, the State of Play will happen in the afternoon rather than the morning, so the showcases won’t literally overlap, but sheesh – don’t Sony and Nintendo have each other’s numbers? Couldn’t they have picked different days?
