Reset the clock – a PlayStation Showcase is rumored to occur at the end of 2024, according to Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson. This is through a report before the recent State of Play, which outlined many titles rumored to appear.
Henderson noted the lack of the rumored Horizon x LEGO title before adding that it may be announced at either Summer Game Fest on June 7th or “the PlayStation Showcase towards the end of the year.” Leaker Midori indicated that there would be more first-party announcements from Sony Interactive Entertainment at the former, so it isn’t impossible for the new Horizon title to appear.
However, the PlayStation Showcase is arguably more intriguing. If it arrives around November/December, it could highlight Sony’s major releases heading into 2025. The company already confirmed no new titles in “existing major franchises” for the current fiscal year, though it could just as easily host another State of Play early next year. As always, time will tell, so take things with a grain of salt and remember that plans could always change.

Communicating while in a Helldivers 2 party with friends will soon be easier than ever, as PlayStation announced Thursday that it’ll be rolling out built-in Discord voice chat to PlayStation 5 consoles.
It’s almost as if they planned it. Hot on the heels of a new trailer and a wave of coverage for Monster Hunter Wilds out of Summer Game Fest, Sony has announced that Wilds’ predecessor, Monster Hunter Rise, is coming to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on June 18. Perfect timing, if you’re full of renewed excitement for hunting monsters and want to get your eye in ahead of the new game’s 2025 release.
Sony has revealed the slate of games joining the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog in June. Acclaimed action-RPG Monster Hunter Rise leads this month's PS Plus offerings, followed by sports sim Football Manager 2024, grand strategy RPG Crusader Kings III, action-adventure title After Us, city-building RTS Anno 1800, and more. Titles coming to Game Catalog will be available to PS Plus Extra and Deluxe/Premium tier members starting June 18.

With the PlayStation State of Play done, Nintendo and Xbox still have yet to show their hand during this summer of gaming. Next up, Microsoft kicks off its Xbox Games Showcase on June 8, followed immediately after by a big reveal for the next Call of Duty. While we already know the next Call of Duty is set to be Black Ops 6, there’s plenty from the main show that remains a mystery and rife for speculation.
Sony has finally unveiled its PC adapter for PlayStation VR2, which will be released this August and finally enable players to try games like Half-Life: Alyx with the headset.
Sony kicked off the summer gaming showcase train this week with a State of Play stream that revealed plenty about some of the company’s biggest PS5 games coming out in the rest of this year. They’ve stolen a march on the rest of the industry, who will all be congregated around Summer Game Fest next week, but did it do enough to really excite you? Let’s dive in:
Astro Bot will have "over 150" cameos from across the PlayStation pantheon, restoring hope that Sony might finally acknowledge Bloodborne again.
Per last night’s Sony State of Play, PS5 darling and supposedly rather good action-dad adventure God of War Ragnarök is coming to PC on September 19th 2024. The good news is that the port, co-developed by Jetpack Interactive and original makers Santa Monica Studio, will pack in all the DLSS 3, FSR 3, and ultrawide what-have-yous that one might expect from a big, monied PC release. The bad, silly, clearly pointless news is that it will need a PlayStation Network (PSN) account, despite the complete lack of multiplayer.
