Developer Starbreeze has announced a new game, codenamed Project Baxter, a cooperative multiplayer game presumably in the style of its PAYDAY series. Further, Starbreeze has managed to snag the official Dungeons & Dragons branding. However, we don't expect the studio to treat the RPG setting as reverently as Larian recently did with Baldur's Gate 3.
Due out in 2026 for all major platforms, Project Baxter will be developed and published by Starbreeze, and the company says it «will carry the signature Starbreeze game cornerstones of cooperative multiplayer, lifetime commitment through a Games as a Service-model, community engagement and a larger than life experience.»
Forgive the scepticism, but PAYDAY 3, Starbreeze's latest release, dribbled onto the scene, plagued by server issues that the CEO had to apologise for, taking the developer the better part of two months to get the heist shooter's first patch out. In a year plagued with the likes of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, Kong: Rise of Skull Island, or The Walking Dead: Destinies, it's a story of dismal quality that may have gone under the radar for some.

If we take a look at aome of Starbreeze other work such as The Walking Dead and their World War 2 game you can guess that this will most likely be a clone of Pay Day.
They might surprise us.
Guerrilla were able to switch away from their FPS Killzone games and make Horizon Zero Dawn. So let’s not count these guys out until we see the final product.
I’m still gonna keep my expectations low though…
I'd really like to see a coop d&d game which combines hand crafted scenarios with ai NPC interactions to simulate a real campaign.

Really, we're crystal ball gazing that far ahead? Well, at least the PS6 will have 1 game available on release day...

The Day Before is out on PC tomorrow, 7th December, and is supposed to be coming to PS5 at some point in the future. Tribes 3: Rivals is a revival of the classic multiplayer first-person shooter series synonymous with blinding speed and majestic movement. We got a full seven minutes of gameplay by way of introduction, courtesy of IGN, which moves at such a stellar pace it makes the Doom Slayer seem a plodding space marine in comparison.
Fans of the first Dragon's Dogma have been quick to point out just how similar Dragon's Dogma 2 seems to be when compared to its predecessor. Indeed, it's clear that the upcoming sequel isn't straying too far from the gameplay formula that made the original title so beloved — but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Anticipation is high for Dragon's Dogma 2, the awe-inspiring sequel to Capcom's cult classic action RPG, Dragon's Dogma. But punters had best be prepared to pay a premium: the PS5 standard edition will retail for $70 / £60, the first time the company has charged what is becoming industry standard for AAA products, and certainly won't be the last.
