Palworld smashes Steam records for highest concurrent players on a paid game right now

Grand Theft Auto 6 or GTA 6 has been shattering records even before its launch. The GTA 6 trailer, which was published on December 4, broke the record for most views in the initial 24-hour period for a non-music video, overtaking the previous record of YouTuber Mr Beast. Although the trailer did not delve into the specifics, it offered a first glimpse into the world of GTA 6, its setting, some gameplay elements and characters. The GTA 6 trailer reveal has only added fuel to the fire and has reignited the GTA 6 community which is now working on creating a potential GTA 6 world map. In the midst of all this, the GTA 6 map might have just been leaked by a Rockstar employee himself!

Palworld has reached another impressive milestone, passing two million concurrent players on Steam. Palworld's unique formula has seen it skyrocket up the charts after the game's recent release.

All within a day, the hotly anticipated Valheim-like open world survival action-RPG Enshrouded launched into Early Access, became the subject of a flood of negative user reviews largely due to performance issues, and promptly hotfixed a major problem causing server crashes. At the time of writing, its Steam reviews continue to climb after another crash fix.

Palworld, that survival game mashup, continues to grow in popularity. In the past 24 hours, its peak concurrent player count reached 1,864,421, the second highest of any game on Steam, ever. It took that spot from Counter-Strike 2 and the only game to reach higher is now PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, aka Plunkbat, aka PUBG.

Palworld has now eclipsed Counter-Strike 2's all-time concurrent player record to take the number two spot on Steam's list of most concurrent players ever.

As if it couldn’t beat any more records, Palworld is now the second-highest concurrently played game of all time on Steam. At 1,864,421 peak concurrent players, it’s beatenCounter-Strike 2’s record of 1,818,773. The only competition left is PUBG: Battlegrounds, with an all-time peak of 3,257,248 concurrent players.

After crossing 1.2 million concurrent players on Steam and selling over five million copies, Palworld’s hot streak continues. It now has 1,582,482 peak concurrent players and is the third-highest concurrently played game on Steam yet. Though it’s still behind PUBG: Battlegrounds and Counter-Strike 2, it’s surpassed the likes of Lost Ark (1,325,305) and Dota 2 (1,295,114) in all-time peak concurrent player counts.

Palworld, an open-world action-adventure title where players can combat and capture Pokemon-like creatures, has become a phenomenon, rising to the top of Steam charts days within launch. The game, which also incorporates elements of the survival genre, now has the fifth-highest peak concurrent players in the history of the Valve storefront, going past heavyweight titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring and Hogwarts Legacy. Palword developers Pocketpair also confirmed Monday that the game has sold over five million copies within three days of launch.

Palworld’s riotous success has been startling to see. Following its early access launch last week, it’s surpassed key sales milestone at an alarming rate, and at last count, stood at 4 million copies sold in just three days. Unsurprisingly, that’s reflected in its player engagement numbers as well.
