Super Mario Bros Wonder is less than a month away now, and we’ve got some footage of the game in action.

If you’ve played through its demo or have watched some trailers, you’re probably wondering who voices Princess Peach in Princess Peach: Showtime! Fortunately for you, we’ve found out who’s providing the titular character’s voice in the new game starring everyone’s favourite princess.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is headed to Netflix just in time for the holiday season.

The new voice of Wario — or at least, the person behind his grumpy moustachioed mouth in WarioWare: Move It! — looks to be Kevin Afghani, the actor also cast as the new voices of both Mario and Luigi.

There are many mysteries in the video game space that we’re not likely to get answered anytime soon. Then, there are the “curiosities” that honestly don’t make sense even WHEN someone in charge explains them. Case in point, Super Mario Bros Wonder was a landmark title for Nintendo both upon its announcement in June and its release last week. But not just because the game pushed the bounds of 2D platforming in unique ways but because there was a key change behind the scenes. Specifically, the longtime voice of Mario, Charles Martinet, was replaced. But despite that big departure, we didn’t find out who was the voice of Mario until MUCH later.

Our Super Mario Bros Wonder review likens the stellar platformer to "your first magical visit to Disneyland," so I was caught off guard when one of its developers casually shared one of the most horrifying ideas I've ever heard: "an eight-heads-tall, life-sized, live-action Mario."

The new voice actor behind Mario and Luigi in Super Mario Bros. Wonder has finally been revealed, and they are relatively unknown in the video game space. This marks the first new voice actor for Mario in the video game world since the mid-90s, as another performer had the role locked down for decades.

With Super Mario Bros. Wonder out soon on the Nintendo Switch, actor Kevin Afghani revealed on Twitter that he voices Mario and Luigi.

With minimal fanfare, Nintendo has finally confirmed the new voice of Mario in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and he has at least one thing in common with Charles Martinet in that you probably won't recognize much of his pre-Mario work.

Nintendo revealed in August that longtime Mario voice actor Charles Martinet would no longer be voicing Mario. Amongst speculation of a different voice actor for Mario in Super Mario Bros. Wonder trailers, Nintendo also announced Martinet was not jumpman's voice in the game, leaving fans to wonder who the new voice is. After months of internet sleuthing, guesswork, and more, Nintendo has confirmed that Genshin Impact voice actor Kevin Afghani is the new voice of Mario. 

There was a seismic shift in the gaming world a while back when it was revealed that Charles Martinet would stop being the main voice of Mario and several other Mushroom Kingdom characters for Nintendo games and other properties. Martinet was the voice of Mario and Co. for decades, and hearing that he was leaving was heartbreaking for many. Then, it was confirmed soon after that Nintendo had already cast a new voice actor for Mario and others for Super Mario Bros Wonder, the game that releases next week. However, they decided to stay tight-lipped on who it actually was.

The new voice of Mario has been revealed: Kevin Afghani is the actor behind Mario (and Luigi) in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Nintendo confirmed on Friday. Afghani replaces actor Charles Martinet, who provided Mario’s chipper wahoos and it’s-a-mes for more than 25 years.

The rest of September and the entirety of October are so packed with big video game releases, it might feel like Super Mario Bros. Wonder's arrival is still a long way off. In reality, the first truly new 2D Mario game in well over a decade is only a little more than five weeks away. Probably time to get those pre-orders in if you haven't already, especially with so many other games to potentially buy over the course of the next few months, and if you pre-order Wonder through Walmart, you'll get a pretty special bonus.

As we all know by now, Charles Martinet, the legendary voice of Mario and other Nintendo characters, is stepping back from his role as a voice actor for video games and Is going to transition to a new role as “Mario Ambassador.” Today, Martinet and Mario’s creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, released a video in which they acknowledged the transition and had a little fun with one another despite not being on screen together. In it, they promised that Martinet would still be around and would still be a part of the brand as he’d spread the joy of Mario as he travels around the world.

Nintendo of America recently announced that Charles Martinet would be hanging up his cap as the voice of Mario, a role he's occupied the goomba-stomping boots of since 1996. Nintendo of America announced the transition via a post on Twitter/X last month, revealing he'd be «moving into the brand-new role of Mario Ambassador.»  

It was a surprise to fans worldwide when we discovered that the iconic character, Mario, would receive a new voice actor. Nintendo’s flagship character had been voiced for decades by Charles Martinet. This actor has been offering his talents to Nintendo to give Mario those iconic phrases fans have become familiar with. But after his lengthy run, it looks like Charles was ready to hang up his cap and pass the torch. Unfortunately, we’re not sure just who that torch has been passed on to. 

We may have heard Mario and Luigi’s new voices in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, but Nintendo will not be confirming who is voicing them until the game’s release, according to Nintendo president Doug Bowser.

Nintendo will broadcast a special Nintendo Direct presentation this week focusing entirely on Super Mario Bros. Wonder, its upcoming trippy side-scroller.

Nintendo will broadcast a new Nintendo Direct presentation on Thursday, Aug. 31, a livestream that will focus on Mario’s new Switch game, Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Nintendo says its new Direct livestream will run about 15 minutes, and will start at 10 a.m. EDT/7 a.m. PDT via Nintendo’s YouTube and Twitch channels.
