Blizzard Entertainment has announced that Overwatch 2 will release on August 10th for Steam. Currently exclusive to Battle.net on PC, the hero shooter is the first of several planned releases for Valve’s platform.
Blizzard president Mike Ybarra stated, “It’s our goal at Blizzard to listen to players and try to exceed their expectations in everything we do. While Battle.net remains a priority for us now and into the future, we’ve heard players want the choice of Steam for a selection of our games, starting with Overwatch 2 on August 10th. We’re happy to work with Valve to make that happen.”
Gabe Newell, president of Valve, added, “Gamers and developers are going to benefit fromOverwatch 2 coming to Steam. Gamers will have another platform where they can play a beloved game that utilizes the capabilities of Steam, and developers will benefit from the effects of having the talented team at Blizzard helping us evolve our supported features and functionality for Overwatch 2.”
Of course, there is a catch – you must connect the game to a Battle.net account for cross-platform play and cross-progression. However, features like Steam Achievements, Friends and invitations are supported. Those who already enjoy the game on Battle.net won’t see any changes. Blizzard didn’t reveal other planned titles for Steam but said it would share more “when the time is right.”
Overwatch 2’s Steam launch coincides with the launch of Season 6 and Invasion, which adds the first three PvE story missions for $15. Flashback, a new core PvP mode launching with two new exclusive maps, and a new Support hero are also coming. Stay tuned for more details and updates in the coming weeks.

Red Dead Redemption is finally headed to PS4 and Nintendo Switch, on August 17. No, this isn't a remake or that long-rumoured remastered version, but rather a port of the original 2010 game, and includes the Undead Nightmare zombie add-on. Rockstar Games' Western epic was originally launched on the PS3 and Xbox 360, after which it was made compatible to run on newer Xbox consoles via backwards compatibility. Double Eleven Studios — known for working on the Lego Harry Potter games and Minecraft Dungeons — is responsible for this new port, which they're calling a ‘conversion.' The studio was founded by ex-Rockstar developers.
Shortly after the announcement that fan-favourite open-world game Red Dead Redemption would be coming to PS4 and Nintendo Switch, fans of the game have voice their displeasure at the title getting released on the PS4 instead of modern consoles or PC.

The widely acclaimed Western open world epic, which released for PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2010, is indeed coming to modern consoles, though it doesn’t look like it will be making too many major enhancements or changes.
