Olivia Colman reveals which Roald Dahl characters inspired her Wonka villain

The newest update for Genshin Impact, version 4.3, has just been released, but that isn’t what has caught players’ attention. Leaks for update version 4.4 have been released, showing a new character that has Western players baffled and getting the memes ready.

According to Toonado.com, Reservation Dogs alum Devery Jacobs has been tapped to join the voice cast of Disney+’s Season 2. Jacobs will officially be voicing the role of Kahhori, a young Native American woman who will be Marvel Studios’ first ever original superhero created for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Like Jacobs, Kahhori is also part of the Mohawk people.

“Hеre is the child that you left behind. Here is the kid with the curious mind. Here is the wonder we used to feel, back when the magic was real.” These are lines from “A World of Your Own,” a song performed late in Wonka, the 2023 movie starring Timothée Chalamet as a young version of Roald Dahl’s eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka. The song keys into a frequently stated motivation for this movie’s version of the character: He wants to use his candymaking magic to create a feeling of childlike wonder in his customers, and indeed, the whole world.

The first sight of that room in Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory with the churning waterfall and a whole meadow full of candy is always pure magic, no matter the version of the story: 1971’s Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory starring Gene Wilder, 2005’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory starring Johnny Depp, or the newly released Wonka starring Timothée Chalamet.

Wonka, out in theaters starting Dec. 15,is the latest attempt to expand the story of Roald Dahl’s famed chocolatier. Maybe the origin story of how Willy Wonka started his chocolate factory isn’t a tale anyone was clamoring for, and the casting of Timothée Chalamet makes it sound like more of a star-of-the-moment IP-friendly vehicle than an honest attempt at for-all-ages filmmaking.

We all wanted to visit the Chocolate Factory, even though some guys ended up becoming a bit weird after snagging that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. So, maybe now’s the chance. Well, not exactly. But, at least you get to meet Willy Wonka! Zynga and Warner Bros. are teaming up for a chocolaty Words With Friends 2 x Wonka crossover.

Let me level with you: 1971’s Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory is one of my very favorite films. You know how movie people like to wax poetic about how movies are magic? Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory made me believe it. Back in 1971, Roger Ebert’s four-star review of the film compared it to The Wizard of Oz, and that’s pretty apt — both films are landmark cinematic experiences, the kind that can change your life if you come to them at the right time.
