Old School RuneScape’s 2024 roadmap is here, following the recent Winter Summit. The team has a lot on the way, with Varlamore opening up in March, a revamped Defender of Varrock and While Guthix Sleeps, updates on sailing, Wilderness, and more
Varlamore, the Shining Kingdom, was a highlight, and the team has a new devblog going in-depth about all things we can expect. Varlamore was announced a while back, but now they’ve gone into tons of details about what’s coming, what’s being tweaked, and more in what will be OSRS’s biggest area expansion. Expect to start off in the center of the kingdom and explore the capital.
Beyond that, there are other places to explore, creatures you won’t find elsewhere, lore to immerse yourself in, and more. Fortis Colosseum will offer a PvM minigame, there will be a new rune type, and of course, dungeon content and rewards. Expect the first part on March 20th and further expansion, with new activities and quests, in summer.
This month, expect Scurrius, The Rat King, a rodent of most unusual size, and the newest PvM boss. Not just any PvM boss, but one designed as an entry-level boss, designed to introduce PvM content. He can be encountered solo or in a group.
Defender of Varrock is coming back, with most of the quest returning as veterans will remember, but with some tweaks. The Mahjarrat Storyline will also continue with the Grandmaster Quest, While Guthix Sleeps. The community wanted to see it back and back it will come–but as a remade quest. The original is the starting point, and they’ve backported it, but there will be a number of changes, including to keep it in line with their longer-term plans. Expect this in the summer.
The Wilderness is also getting an update, with content for all builds. The Chaos Temple is also getting a refresh. Stats show most PvP deathsin the current Wilderness are in the 20-40 range, so they’re looking to add something new. The Chaos Temple is set to be “a hotspot where players can make themselves some cash, score some new Wilderness or PvP-focused uniques, and find fights with players around their level”. Essentially, a potential entry point into Wilderness PVP, and an enticement with loot too.
