Unity makes big changes to the install fee that pissed off just about every game developer last week

Last week, just about everyone in the games business was mad at Unity over a new, retroactive per-install fee for games made with the engine. Unity developers raised troubling question after troubling question about the proposal: How would installs be counted? What if someone reinstalls a game over and over? What about cases where a developer could end up paying Unity more than they made from selling their game? After over a week of turmoil, Unity has announced that it's walking back the most objectionable aspects of the fee.

Ed Boon Wanted Each Character In Mortal Kombat 1 Voiced By A Big-Name Actor

If you know anything about Ed Boon, it’s not just that he’s a great creator and visionary when it comes to fighting games and their potential. You’ll know by listening to him that he’s a fanboy. He loves putting in things within his titles that will make his “younger self” happy and has always pushed for bigger and better things to happen with the games he oversees. With Mortal Kombat 1, he got a lot of wishes granted, including finally getting Jeanne-Claude Van Damme in the title to play a version of Johnny Cage. But he recently revealed that he wanted more than that.

A Single Starfield Item Will Make Your Follower Better In Combat

doesn't force the main character to explore its more than 1,000 planets alone, and followers can be a valuable tool in combat. Each companion will be combat ready with their own weapon, but asking them to trade gear will let the player give them a new loadout and choose what items they have equipped. Giving companions good weapons early on when ammo is scarce is a great way to ensure they're effective while fighting, but putting one other item in their inventory will increase their efficacy even more.

GTA 5 Michael actor makes big claim about GTA 6

GTA 6 exists in a weird limbo state right now. We all know it’s coming. We have some idea that it’s set in Vice City. But official news from Rockstar regarding the new sandbox game is yet to arrive. As Grand Theft Auto 5 passes its ten-year anniversary (feel old yet?) the GTA 6 release date could be soon, could be not so soon. Nevertheless, when we finally pack our bags, leave Los Santos, and touch down in Grand Theft Auto 6, it’s going to be huge. Even GTA 5 Michael actor Ned Luke thinks so. The voice behind one of the most famous characters in gaming, Luke is nevertheless confident that GTA 6 will crush Grand Theft Auto 5.

Unity Reportedly Making Big Changes To Controversial Plan

There was quite a bit of attention on the Unity engine last week. However, this attention was nothing pleasant for developers alongside the Unity company. If you recall, Unity announced it would change how it handles developers using its engine. Essentially, developers would be responsible for paying a fee to Unity if their games prove to be a success and result in widespread installations. However, since this proved to be incredibly disheartening for developers and has since caused a backlash, it looks like there are changes inbound.

Wheel of Time’s Seanchan are the big bads for a big good reason

After making several memorable appearances in The Wheel of Time season 2’s first four installments, the Prime Video series’ Seanchan invaders finally take center stage in episode 5, “Damane.” They make the most of it, too, showing off everything from their culture and politics to their fashion over the course of the episode’s hour run time. What’s more, “Damane” also hammers home what Wheel of Time’s second season has already made abundantly clear: The Seanchan are a major threat, and one whose motivations hit closer to home than your standard fantasy army with world conquest in its sights.
