NVIDIA has secured a huge AI order from the Indian data center operator Yotta, as total order valuation is expected to exceed the $ billion mark.
Team Green's AI bandwagon recently hit a roadblock, with the new US regulations, which made it difficult for the company to sell its AI products in well-settled regions such as China. However, it seems like NVIDIA has gained traction from an emerging player in the global industry, none other than India. Reuters has disclosed that the Indian AI firm Yotto has placed an order with NVIDIA worth over $500 million, which is yet again a huge milestone for both parties, as Yotto accelerates developments within its AI cloud services, while Team Green finds a potentially new region to promote its business.
Yotto's CEO and co-founder Sunil Gupta revealed that the new order includes 16,000 units of NVIDIA's H100 and GH200 AI GPUs, which are expected to be delivered by March 2025. Moreover, the firm has previously placed an order for 16,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs, also due for delivery by July. Hence, a rough estimate suggests that total order valuation has indeed exceeded a billion-dollar mark, placing Yotto in the list of NVIDIA's "esteemed" clients. Moreover, NVIDIA's CEO Jensen Huang has himself expressed the immense potential held in Indian markets and has predicted it to be one of the largest in the world moving ahead.
The efforts of the Indian government and businesses to promote technological growth in the country have accelerated in recent times, especially after the initiative of "Made in India" products taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. AI is yet again another area where Indian firms are focusing on, and as revealed by Yotto's CEO, Indian AI markets are expected to grow to the $14 billion mark by 2030, hence creating a competitive race amongst the local tech giants.
In the midst of all comes NVIDIA, who might have discovered an alternative region to sell its AI products to, since the situation and policies in China have been unfavourable. Since the US has normalized relations with India, Team Green might start to focus on Indian markets, meaning that we could see a deep-rooted business in the region moving forward.
