No Man’s Sky’s latest update ‘Orbital’ is available today and adds ship customization, a new guild system, an overhaul to space stations, and more.
Improvements made to the game’s engine have allowed Hello Games to make significant upgrades to the game’s space stations. Stations will now have “vast interior spaces and exterior spaces” better reflections and metallic surfaces. These interiors are now procedurally generated, too. They’re also just much more sizeable in general and should have a ton of variation from one station to the next.
A new ship editor allows players to customize their starships, though this won’t impact the fun of finding new ships throughout the galaxy. The editor will require parts the players finds or trades for during their exploration.
The update’s new guild system is intended to integrate guilds more deeply into the game experience. Players can now visit guild envoys on space stations to procure supplies and rare items or even make donations to increase their reputation.
