No Man's Sky is barely recognizable from the game that launched all the way back in 2016. That's down to the passionate developers at Hello Games consistently updating the title with new features, quality of life improvements, and massive free expansions, turning one of the worst games of 2016 into arguably the greatest redemption story the games industry has ever seen, outside of maybe Cyberpunk 2077.
You'll struggle to find a No Man's Sky player that still holds a grudge against creator Sean Murray and Hello Games, and with the announcement of the game's Orbital update earlier this week, fans are beginning to feel a little bit guilty about getting so much content for free. In an extremely rare show of love and care for Hello Games, you can actually find players begging for the developer to stop releasing free updates and actually let them pay for their hard work.
This desire to give Hello Games cash was made very evident by a Twitter post by user Toshi_TNE earlier this week, one which included a meme joking about their desire to give the No Man's Sky developer the bread it deserves after all these years. At the time of writing, this post has over 64,000 likes and over 6,600 retweets, suggesting they're not the only person with the same mindset.
"It feels wrong to keep getting content from a genuinely passionate team for free," says Twitter user Joexor, echoing a sentiment shared by many in the replies to the original tweet. Another user called JustSlippingTea comments further down that they're begging from Hello Games to add "some form of microtransactions" so that people can support them. When you have fans of a game begging for microtransactions to be added, you know you've done right by the community.
Funnily enough, the popularity of the post by Toshi_TNE grew so large that creator Sean Murray himself noticed it, responding with a simple smiling emoji. He's very clearly not going to stop supporting No Man's Sky with free updates any time soon, despite the wishes of his fans, but he does urge people to check out Light No Fire, another open world survival game from Hello Games that was announced at The Game Awards last year. If you want to support the team monetarily, that is probably your best bet.
