No, Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth Are Not Coming to Xbox, Ever

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is nearly a month old now, which means series fans are already beginning to turn their attention to the FF7 Remake trilogy’s final instalment– but Square Enix seemingly has plenty of other Final Fantasy throwbacks in the works as well, if reports are to be believed. One of them is allegedly a remake of Final Fantasy 9, and Naoki Yoshida – producer and director of Final Fantasy 14 – recently seemingly dropped some teases for the rumoured remake.

Final Fantasy 14's Dawntrail expansion has officially received a release date for its early access and full release. 

The latest Final Fantasy 14 patch has brought many quality-of-life features to Endwalker content, but it also seems to have also snuck in the collaborative items from the upcoming Final Fantasy 16 crossover event. Among its many highlights, FinalFantasy VII Rebirth makes simple sidequests a lot more engaging than I had expected. Take an early-game sidequest called When Words Won’t Do. On a surface level, it’s a simple escort mission where players must get a dog from Under Junon to Crow’s Nest unscathed. I did not initially have high hopes for this sidequest due to the poor reputation of escort missions; thankfully, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth defied that fate. To make this optional content more worthwhile, Square Enix gave it a strong narrative backbone.

The ultimate challenge in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is Gilgamesh — the mysterious being from another world menaces Cloud and company throughout the game if you tackle the many Protorelic quests. Finishing those quests unlocks the hidden Gilgamesh Island where you’ll face off against some of the toughest battles in the entire game. I recommend waiting until you’ve finished the story before even thinking about taking on the bosses on Gilgamesh Island.

Sony has secured the complete Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy as a console exclusive.

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy 14 will release on March 21st for Xbox Series X/S. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can claim the Starter Edition from March 21st to April 19th. Check out the latest trailer below.
