The Nintendo Switch is long past the traditional lifespan for a console and its technological limitations are rendering it unable to stand up to current generation systems for new games. Titles such as have struggled in making versions that can run on the outdated system, and Nintendo itself appears to be focusing heavily on remakes and remasters. The holiday season is still a few months away, but Nintendo is wasting no time in revealing a few of its early offers. On October 6, you’ll be able to pick up three new Switch holiday bundles, including a pair of brand-new Animal Crossing-themed Switch Lites. The third bundle includes the regular Switch along with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a Switch Online membership. The Mario Kart bundle is available to preorder now at Best Buy, but the Switch Lite bundles aren't up for grabs just yet.
Here’s a look at the three bundles to help you decide if you want to add one to your collection. The budget-friendly Switch Lite bundles, in particular, would make for great gifts this holiday. Just be aware that these two could, and likely will, sell out quickly, especially since each bundle is exclusive to a single retailer.
The Nintendo Switch has some exciting upcoming games to play on your brand-new Switch this holiday. Check out a list of the highlights below the bundles.
Available exclusively at Target, this bundle includes a coral Switch Lite console with Animal Crossing iconography on the back. This is an entirely new design for Switch Lite, and it’s bound to be popular--so be sure to check it out as soon as you can. The bundle also includes a download code for Animal Crossing.
This bundle is available exclusively at Walmart, and it features a turquoise Switch Lite console with Animal Crossing iconography along with a digital copy of Animal Crossing. Just like Isabelle's Aloha Edition, this is a brand-new Switch Lite design that adds an Animal Crossing theme to the standard turquoise Switch Lite. You'll receive a digital version of New Horizons with Timmy & Tommy's Aloha Edition, and we'd expect this holiday bundle to sell out, too.
This bundle includes a standard Nintendo Switch system, a digital version of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and a three-month membership to Switch Online. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe belongs in every Switch library, so this bundle takes care of that out of the gate. And yes, for those keeping score, this is the same Nintendo Switch holiday bundle from last year, and the year before that, etc.
