F-Zero 99 Announced, Available Later Today on Nintendo Switch Online

The Nintendo Switch is long past the traditional lifespan for a console and its technological limitations are rendering it unable to stand up to current generation systems for new games. Titles such as have struggled in making versions that can run on the outdated system, and Nintendo itself appears to be focusing heavily on remakes and remasters. As beloved as the Switch has been, and with as popular of a console as it continues to be, the next system will need to include many impressive features if it hopes to see similar numbers in sales.

Fans of the tough pink cream puff can rejoice as one of his games is coming to Nintendo Switch Online. Kirby & The Amazing Mirror is being added to the Game Boy Advance legacy collection on Nintendo Switch Online on September 29. Kirby & The Amazing Mirror will be joining four Japan only titles that made their US debut on Switch Online earlier this month which include Kirby’s Star Stacker, Quest For Camelot, Joy Mech Fight and Downtown Nekketsu March Super-Awesome Field Day! Because Kirby & The Amazing Mirror is a Game Boy Advance title accessing it requires both the Nintendo Switch Online and the Expansion Pack membership while the other titles only require Nintendo Switch Online membership. When Nintendo announced that Game Boy Advance games would appear on the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack service, I felt a tinge of excitement in my soul. Not because I love Game Boy Advance games, though that is certainly true. Rather, because I could never wrangle together the peripherals and people needed to make many of the system’s unique multiplayer experiences work. So when I saw this morning that Kirby & The Amazing Mirror would be coming to Nintendo’s subscription service next week, I couldn’t help but smile.

During today’s Nintendo Direct presentation, upcoming and remakes were unveiled with trailers.

Following many rumors that Princess Peach was going to be getting her own Nintendo Switch game, was officially announced with a release date during today’s Nintendo Direct. The monarch of the Mushroom Kingdom will be taking on Grape and the Sour Bunch using a myriad of different abilities to save the day.

Just when we thought all was over, Nintendo surprised fans right at the end of its newest Direct to announce that Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is being remastered for the Nintendo Switch. 

There’s perhaps no Nintendo community quite as hard done by as F-Zero fans. The last major entry in the series (a couple of minor GBA titles aside) was F-Zero GX all the way in 2003. Since then, fan demands for a new F-Zero have largely fallen on deaf ears, and a lot of the series’ trademark antigrav gameplay was unceremoniously lifted for Mario Kart 8. Ah, but perhaps it’s not all doom and gloom – in the past year, prominent Nintendo leakers have begun to hint something F-Zero related was again in the works, and today during the most recent Nintendo Direct it was confirmed.
