The Nintendo Switch 2 Will Be Powerful Enough To Play PS5 & Xbox Series X Games

Throughout 2022, we were inundated with endless rumours about the mythical Nintendo Switch Pro. It was slated to be a big improvement over the original Nintendo Switch and its OLED upgrade a few years later. However, with the release of the Steam Deck and the imminent release of many other handheld entries into the market, the development work on the Switch Pro was abruptly ended. The reason was simple enough in that it couldn’t match the hardware specifications and performances of the competition, most notably that of 4K gaming. With the Pro firmly put to bed in January this year, rumours quickly began to surface of the revival of the next major Nintendo release – the Nintendo Switch 2.

Everything we know about ‘Switch 2,’ Nintendo’s next-gen console

Nintendo, notoriously secretive, has so far said nothing — or almost nothing — on the record about its next game console. As Nintendo Switch approaches its seventh birthday in March 2024, questions about how much longer it will last are natural: Seven years is a typical lifespan for a console generation, Switch sales are falling fast, and the technology powering the console is showing its age. But Nintendo has flatly refused to engage with those questions.

Nintendo Says it’s Still Working on Switch Games for FY 2024/25

Based on multiple recent reports, it’s looking like the Nintendo Switch’s active lifecycle is about to come to an end. However, Nintendo itself has said that it’s still got things in the works for the Switch itself for fiscal year 2024/25, which ends on March 31, 2025.
