Barring a single exception several years ago, a Nintendo September Direct has been held every year since the company began rolling out digital showcases. Short--and fittingly--direct, these livestreams provide fresh updates on upcoming Nintendo games and the occasional tease for something bigger on the horizon. For the 2023 edition of the Nintendo September Direct, the company says that it'll be focused on its Q4 releases in a 40-minute presentation.
Nintendo has already had a great year with releases like Fire Emblem Engage, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Pikmin 4, and for the last few months of the year, it still has a few exclusive aces up its sleeves. For this presentation, we're expecting a new look at Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the first 2D Mario Bros. game in a long time, more details on Detective Pikachu Returns, and what games are coming next to Nintendo Switch Online.
Of course we're also hoping to see a few teases for new games that'll roll out in 2024, the seventh year of the Nintendo Switch console. Rumors are already circulating that F-Zero is getting revived, and after almost two decades since the last entry in the series raced onto the Game Boy Advance, fans have been patiently holding out to get a dose of high-speed anti-grav racing action. We're also hoping to see the possible return of Donkey Kong and maybe even confirmation of a Metroid Prime 2 remaster.
We'll be updating this post with all the reveals from the livestream, so don't forget to refresh and see what Nintendo has planned for the rest of the year and beyond.

Mario is once again facing off against Donkey Kong, as that mischievous primate has stolen Mini Mario toys and hidden them all across the world. It's up to Mario to get his precious merchandise back by solving puzzles and facing off against Donkey Kong. A two-player co-op mode will also be available, as Toad will help Mario figure out some of the more challenging puzzles.

A new look at Super Mario RPG highlighted several of the game's new battle mechanics, as players will be able to play the classic adventure with a few modern touches. Perfectly timed attacks will damage all enemies on the screen, and once a special bar has been filled up, you can unleash
