Following uncomfortable close to the Xbox and PlayStation Year in Review roundups, Nintendo has provided its own.
Like most other year-in-review wrap-ups, Nintendo shows you the number of hours played on your Switch (Switches, if you’re fancy), what games you prefer, and further breakdowns beyond that. Unlike the PlayStation round-up, it doesn’t try to tell you your horoscope; instead, it just gives you the facts. I’m going to take a guess here, but it’s statistically likely that your top-played game this year was The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Mine is, and I didn’t even finish it.
Here are some more Year in Review facts about me, which you can totally skip if you don’t care. I put in 295 hours across 58 games. I mostly play on PC and retro consoles these days. Aside from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, my top played games are Pikmin 4 (which I still haven’t finished post-game on) and Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse. Hey! I really like those games.
There are some good memories here. I can’t believe I only played 6 hours of Metal Slug. That’s more than the 2 hours I put into Super Mario Wonder. I can totally believe I put 14 hours into Paranormasight. Did you know I played through the entirety of Metroid Prime Remastered in 14 hours before I reviewed it? What I really learned here is that I spent quite a few months of this year feeling depressed and burnt out between deep dives of review games. What a year!
You can stare into your soul, if you want, by just going to this page here and checking your Year in Review. You can even tell Nintendo what your favorite game this year was. Don’t disappoint them!

Shigeru Miyamoto supposedly has no plans to retire from Nintendo, though his role at the company has shifted dramatically.
2023 was an incredible year for Nintendo Switch fans, with Nintendo having easily the strongest line up of first party games and exclusives from the big three console manufacturers. Sure, a large part of that was thanks to the company trawling through their back catalogue of beloved classics and sprucing them up for their current handheld, but there were also long-awaited sequels, rejuvenated mainstays and more.
With few exceptions, the open-world game has largely been the preserve of Western studios – those with deep enough pockets to fund the development of large-scale sandboxes, rich in scope and detail alike. But with publisher NetEase evidently prepared to splash the cash, Hangzhou-based Everstone is plotting to put China at the very heart of the genre with the forthcoming Where Winds Meet.
If you’re still exploring the vast reaches of Starfield and are somehow hungry for more, you’re in luck. An “End of the Year Update” dropped by Bethesda outlined some of what’s to come in 2024.
Epic Games just sent out the latest Fortnite player survey and it hints at possible collaborations with some highly-requested series like Five Nights at Freddy's, The Boys, and even some Nintendo properties.
In a year marked by groundbreaking advancements, 2023 has proven to be a pivotal moment for Artificial Intelligence (AI), reshaping industries and capturing public attention. While ChatGPT laid its foundations in late 2022, it was in 2023 that generative AI truly seized the spotlight with all the tech majors looking to muscle in and dominate the segment with their new tools. Amidst the highs and lows, the AI landscape witnessed transformative events, from competitive launches to unexpected scandals. As we bid farewell to this remarkable year, let's revisit the five defining moments that shaped the AI narrative in 2023.
So 2023 has been a wild year in the games industry. We've seen multiple MMORPG expansions drop — and not from the genre's heaviest hitters, while the industry itself has had a banner year in the RPG genre alone. Games like Final Fantasy XVI, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and, of course, Baldur's Gate 3 dominated people's playtime this year.
The polls are closed and your votes counted for the PlayStation Blog Game of the Year 2023. The winners of these awards, spanning 18 categories, have been shaped entirely by player choice. A thank you to everyone who voted and – given the strength of titles released in the past 12 months – were stuck with some difficult decisions to make. And of course, our thanks to all the studios and creatives whose work have helped define PlayStation’s 2023.
First introduced in 2022, Steam Year in Review (formerly Steam Replay) lets you see all the games you played in 2023, and we have how to see your Wrapped-like stats recap explained!
Hi there, I’m Kenny Hudson and I’m a hero producer on the Overwatch team. Creating a hero is one of the most satisfying and challenging things we do in Overwatch. We hold ourselves to a high standard when it comes to making anything that goes into the game, and heroes like Mauga are no exception. In this post, I'll be outlining the journey we took to bring Mauga from a short story to the latest addition to the hero roster.
