Nintendo’s latest Indie World showcase has been and gone, featuring a healthy selection of 11 games, from Shantae Advance, through A Highland Song and on to a Switch release on Outer Wilds. Let’s run through it.
Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution – 2024
A Switch remaster of a Game Boy Advance classic, Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution has everything you’d want from the series, with Shantae’s hair whipping attack and transformations, world-altering puzzles, and more. This version also has a first 4 player local multiplayer battle mode for the series!
Core Keeper – Summer 2024

The world has been given a tiny glimpse into the uber-secretive world of Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar North thanks to a fascinating new blog from former technical director Obbe Vermeij, who, in just a few short weeks, has shed light on the studio's cancelled spy game Agent, discussed a zombie game abandoned by the company after it was deemed to be too «depressing», and more.
Remember Rockstar’s Agent? Announced in 2007 for the PlayStation 3, it was touted as a stealth action title set during the Cold War. It would receive sporadic updates before the trademark was eventually abandoned and it was removed from the developer’s website. However, new details are available thanks to former Rockstar North technical director Obbe Vermeij, who worked from 1999 to 2009.
A Highland Song, the next game from 80 Days and Heaven's Vault studio Inkle, was announced last year as a side-scrolling platformer «with rhythm and survival elements.» At the time it was listed only as «coming soon,» but now we've got a proper release date, and it's close: Inkle will set its latest narrative-heavy tale free on Steam on December 5.

Nintendo shared its latest Indie World showcase this morning and has become typical with these showcases, we learned about a number of new exciting indie games coming to Switch and Switch first, as well as some hit already-released games that will be making their way to Nintendo's platform.
A Highland Song, the beautiful «open platforming» adventure from Heaven's Vault and 80 Days developer Inkle, is almost here and will be launching for Switch and PC on 5th December.
