These days games suffering last-minute delays has become routine, but don’t worry – while the release date for Nightingale is changing, it’s not a delay. Today the Inflexion Games, the new Edmonton-based studio founded by former BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn, announced that Nightingale will actually be coming out two days earlier than expected. Wisely, this change has been made to ensure the co-op survival game will be running smoothly by the weekend, which is likely when most people will be jumping in.
“Having the game release at the start of the week not only allows our community to get into the game earlier but also gives us time to address any launch issues ahead of what’s sure to be a busy weekend. All in all, we’re excited to get the portal network up ahead of schedule.”

Haven’t been keeping up with Nightingale? As mentioned, it’s a new co-op survival game with a Victorian gaslamp aesthetic and a unique system that allows you to customize the realms you explore. “Nightingale is a PVE survival-crafting game that challenges players to discover, explore, and survive the mysterious Faewilds. Set in a Victorian gaslamp fantasy world, the game can be played solo or teamed up with up to 5 friends. Players traverse across the Realms, and open portals to new destinations by crafting Realm Cards, while building and customizing estates, and fighting to survive. Your goal: become a skilled Realmwalker, and navigate the web of transdimensional portals. Only then can you discover your way to the magical city of Nightingale, the last known bastion of humanity.”

The PlayStation 5 Pro could be out before anyone expected. PS5 Pro rumors have existed around the as-yet-unannounced console since the initial release of the PS5 in 2020. It's been a common strategy for Sony since the PS2 generation: come out with a console, and then, halfway through its shelf life, come out with a bigger, better, more powerful version and make everyone buy it all over again. However, as the base PS5 enters the "" of its life, the expected time frame for a PS5 Pro release is fast approaching.

The PlayStation, Xbox Series, and PC versions are newly announced—the 2D action adventure RPG was originally announced for Switch on February 21.
Nightingale is a game of fascinating contradictions. While I’m still early on in the Early Access version of this co-op survival crafting game, it’s already jumping wildly between intriguing and confusing, aesthetically pleasing and outright ugly, intuitive and obtuse. It does a lot right, and I can see the potential of building a life from the ground up in this mysterious land – but it also does a lot wrong, particularly with how much time and effort it takes to make meaningful progress. I have a lot more to play before I put a score on this review, but so far I can’t quite tell if Nightingale's rough spots will eventually become part of its charm or hold its otherwise interesting ideas back.

Helmed by former BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn, the fantasy survival title sees players traversing the Fae realms in search of the titular city. Check out the launch trailer below.
Inflexion's fantasy survival sim Nightingale releases into Steam early access today. Our pre-launch impressions? Well, the procedurally generated landscapes are engrossing, a blend of British fairytale influences with many a hushed forest, spidery swamp and tempting ruin. We're also pretty keen as a team on the game's Realm cards system, which lets you shape those fairytale worlds both before and after you portal into them. But we were less enthralled by HUD and user interface elements such as the crafting menus and hotbar, which we found ornate and circuitous to the point of confusing.
