Nexus Mods celebrates 10 billion downloads, almost half of them are Skyrim mods

Even though many of us may see Skyrim as one of the greatest RPGs of all time, there’s no denying that it’s a painfully flawed game. We know this, and that’s why modders are always working to make sure Bethesda’s aging epic maintains some degree of relevancy.

A newly released mod for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is enhancing the AI used by in-game enemies, improving their ability to avoid dangerous situations against ranged opponents. Since the game first debuted in 2011, the Bethesda RPG has remained one of the most iconic role-playing games in modern gaming for its expansive world and depth of gameplay. The game has seen multiple re-releases throughout the years, making it playable on nearly every modern console and even featuring a version of Skyrim on Amazon Alexa. Now, a new mod is looking to improve Skyrim's combat.

Nearly thirteen years after its original launch, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim still sees many interesting mods developed by the community.

A humorous new Red Bull ad features the iconic energy drink brand teaming up with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, in anticipation of the launch of the long-awaited RPG. With the debut of the next entry in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake saga less than a week away, fans have been treated to plenty of updates about the game. The sequel will bring players outside the city of Midgar, opening up the world of Final Fantasy 7 and introducing new playable characters like Red XIII and Cait Sith. Now, Square-Enix and Red Bull are teaming up to celebrate the game's release.

The best way to supercharge a PC game, especially after you're mostly done with it, is to install some mods. They can be a great way to make a game fun again. They're usually unofficial, which is why a lot of people stray from them, but what if you could have sanctioned, official "mods" that aren't made by the game developers, but otherwise have an official stamp of approval? This is exactly the concept Minecraft is currently trying out, with "add-ons" coming soon to players.

One of the stars of 2023 hit Baldur's Gate 3 has joined the cast of Fallout: London, an expansion-sized mod coming to Fallout 4.

Whether you've fully completed or simply stepped away from Skyrim, it'll hardly surprise you to learn that there are still Skyrim mods out there being developed. One such mod, which is still yet to be released some ten or so years after its conception, is Lordbound.

Already coming to the table with a BAFTA-nominated game behind him, solo dev Tomas Sala has a lot to live up to with his upcoming city builder Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles. In the latest Edge magazine issue, Sala explained how he started down his development path. Turns out it was his attempts to decompress by modding one of the best RPGs out there, Skyrim, after a stressful day of being a game studio boss, that lead him to where he is today.

Marvel and DC, like any good comic-book rivals, have been driven to unlikely team-ups. But for decades, that history of universe-bending crossover moments has existed only under comic book shop display cases and in the annals of wikis. That changes this summer, with the release of two epic collections rounding up the the rare encounters between Superman and Spider-Man, Batman and Captain America, the Teen Titans and the X-Men, as well as the even more twisted “Amalgam Age” stories, which melded Marvel and DC characters into singular heroes.
