Xbox Game Pass subscribers can now mark June 18 on their calendars, as that's the day that day one horror game Still Wakes the Deep will join the popular subscription service. New Xbox Game Pass announcements typically happen through the official Xbox blog posts, but there are times when information about upcoming Game Pass titles come from other sources as well.
Whenever a game is confirmed for Xbox Game Pass, its eventual release date announcement clues fans in on when they can expect it to hit the service well in advance of Xbox's official blog post. So is the case with Still Wakes the Deep, an upcoming day one horror game that was featured at the recent Future Games Show Spring Showcase event.
Still the Wakes Deep is a day one Xbox Game Pass game developed by The Chinese Room, the studio behind Dear Esther, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, and Little Orpheus. Still the Wakes the Deep is set on an isolated oil rig and has players contending with what appears to be supernatural horrors as well as some kind of biological threat. Much of Still Wakes the Deep remains a mystery at the time of this writing, so Xbox Game Pass subscribers will have to play the game for themselves come June 18. It will also be available on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as the PS5.
Still Wakes the Deep wasn't the only Xbox Game Pass game featured at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase. It was also confirmed at the event that Harold Halibut is joining the Xbox Game Pass lineup on the very day of its release, April 16. Whereas Still Wakes the Deep is a horror game, Harold Halibut is an adventure game with an incredibly impressive claymation art style. The game has been turning heads for quite some time, and it will be exciting to see if it lives up to the hype come April 16.
Still Wakes the Deep is so far the only game confirmed for Xbox Game Pass in June, but there are multiple games confirmed for April.
