Final Fantasy 14 recently added a new furnishing item that hearkens back to the iconic square grapes from Endwalker’s original release. The Labyrinthos Grape Lamppost outdoor furnishing, added in Patch 6.55, lets Final Fantasy 14 players immortalize the meme outside their homes and Island Sanctuary forever.
During Endwalker, players visit a subterranean facility called Labyrinthos where they see many different crops, including grapes growing on a vine. Originally, these grapes were comically low-poly, giving them a blocky, square texture. A couple of weeks later, Final Fantasy 14 updated the grapes to have a better model, much to the chagrin of players who had fallen in love with the absurdly chunky fruits.
However, in Final Fantasy 14 Patch 6.55, the square grapes made a comeback in an unexpected way. The update added tons of features to the game, including some new furnishing items. One of these items, the Labyrinthos Grape Lamppost, is a direct reference to the original square grapes of Endwalker fame. The flavor text entry for this item also gives a hilarious lore background to the grapes and their replacements and even gives a nod to players who preferred the blocky originals. Fans can get this new furnishing by purchasing it from the Market Board, or by crafting it as an Alchemist.
This new furnishing isn’t the only time Final Fantasy 14 has made a cheeky nod to the Endwalker Grapes. During last year’s Fan Festival in Las Vegas, Final Fantasy 14 gave attendees a real version of the grapes in the form of a stress ball. That said, the Labyrinthos Grape Lamppost is the first in-game tribute to the meme – and is much easier to get than the limited-run FanFest collectible.
Needless to say, fans were charmed by the Labyrinthos Grape Lamppost, with most housing wards already having at least a few, if not dozens, of the lamppost spread throughout the plots. While the surprise cyberpunk city in Dawntrail will probably inspire plenty of amazing furnishings, the grape lamp will undoubtedly still hold a special place in the hearts of fans for the rest of the critically acclaimed MMORPG's history.
Final Fantasy XIV's original release was less-than-stellar, with many fans blasting the game for its array of issues. This prompted developers to cancel the MMO and rebuild it as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Since then, the title has seen a massive resurgence and has quickly become one of the best MMOs ever made, with hundreds of thousands of subscribers online at any given time.

When Final Fantasy XVI was announced, Square Enix made it clear that this would be an attempt by them to make something different. They weren’t going to “rewrite the book,” per se, and make an entirely different kind of game. Still, they were going to lean into certain elements that would take it in a different direction compared to previous entries in the longstanding franchise. But one of the most important factors was that this game would have a much darker storyline, one that was embodied in the main character, Clive Rosfield. He would be a conduit for many things that would happen in the best and worst ways, and many fans resonated with him as a result.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will feature an ambiguous ending that will keep players wondering about the third and final part of the trilogy, according to the game's producer.
The second instalment of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy is set to launch soon, but there are, of course, plenty of other fan-favourite instalments in the long-running series that many have been hoping to see remade in similar fashion. Final Fantasy 6 in particular has been heavily demanded by series fans- though according to Yoshinori Kitase – producer on the FF7 Remake trilogy and co-director of the original Final Fantasy 6 – developing a remake series for the SNES classic would be an even more herculean task than developing the FF7 Remake trilogy.
A Final Fantasy 14 live-action TV series is now confirmed to be «dead» due to the «size and scale needed to do it right».
Many people are looking forward to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and that’s not a shock at all. When Square Enix released the first entry of the “remake saga” back in 2020, gamers were stunned by how well the publisher had remade the original title despite focusing only on the Midgar storyline for the “first part.” The graphics were stunning, the voice acting was on point, and the updated combat system made it feel like an RPG while also being “upgraded” to fit modern times. However, a few flaws held it back, mainly in the party system.
Final Fantasy 14 Patch 6.55 added the new Asura Trial encounter from FanFest, but to unlock it, players must go through the Hildibrand questline from Endwalker. This Final Fantasy 14 boss battle can be easily missed by those who aren’t caught up with the iconic comical questline, so fans should be sure not to overlook this exciting fight.
Final Fantasy 14's new feline momma has quickly become a fan favorite, as is tradition with new FF14 characters, mainly because she channels her inner crying cat meme.
For the record, we didn’t plan two stories about items you can get for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to come in back-to-back days. Life decided to have a little fun with us, and we don’t mind. Yesterday, we discussed how Square Enix Reward Program members could get a special glitter globe featuring the Gold Saucer from the upcoming RPG. It was cute and adorable, and we’re sure some of you have already subscribed to the program so you can get it or are cashing in points to ensure you get it. But, if you’re looking for something a bit more “substantial,” then perhaps Amazon is where you go to get the game.
When it comes to video games, many who play them don’t just want the “memories” of playing them; they want items in the real world that’ll help them remember those memories in a different way. Pre-order items are a big deal in this respect, as people will pay out the nose to get unique items that can only be bought through these special deals. Square Enix decided to up the ante with the upcoming release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth by offering its Reward Members the chance to get a special glitter globe featuring the Gold Saucer from the upcoming title.
With the 2024 Toyko Fan Fest in the books, Final Fantasy 14 released Patch 6.55, Growing Light Part 2, which brought the story of the Endwalker expansion and several side quests to a close. In addition to the stories, Final Fantasy 14 made some changes specific to the PvP mode called Shatter and some Jobs were nerfed in Frontline mode.
I don’t know what it is about the Final Fantasy 7 battle theme, but it always gets my blood pumping. Square Enix released a new trailer for the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Rebirth titled Destined for Rebirth. The trailer focuses on showcasing part 2 of the series which focuses on Cloud and his crew traveling across the planet in search of Sephiroth.
