New Star Trek, Netflix reality shows, Daryl’s Walking Dead spinoff, and more TV to watch this week

No one should have to go too long without new Star Trek, and thankfully Paramount agrees: A month after Strange New Worlds wrapped up season 2, Star Trek: Lower Decks is back with its fourth season to bring some wacky fun to the Federation (which, the rest of the Star Trek universe aside, the Federation could sorely use; they can get a bit self-serious).

What We Played #618 Armored Core VI, Baldur’s Gate 3 & New Zealand Story

As the school holidays wind to a close, and those heady weeks of FIFA games and lengthy RPG sessions fade into memory, my household has had one last gaming hurrah. I’ve been making my way through all of the things I saw at Gamescom, and carried on with some of them when I got home. Wayfinder has become the daily MMO hit, and I’ve been playing with my son in his first true stint of online gaming. Alongside that I’m still playing Baldur’s Gate 3, and I’m probably going to finish up just as the PS5 version appears. It’s safe to say it’s very, very good, and if you haven’t been able to play yet, you should be excited.

A live-action Pokémon show premieres this fall — but it won’t look like the games at all

The world of Pokémon media is expanding. A new, live-action Pokémon drama premiering this fall will focus on the impact of the game on a former fan’s life — not on the Pokémon themselves. The show will air in October in Japan, according to a tweet from Japanese TV company Tokyo TV, translated by Pokémon website Serebii.

David Fincher’s The Killer looks like the kind of movie the Hitman games deserve

Netflix released the first trailer on Tuesday for The Killer, David Fincher’s latest psychological action thriller starring Michael Fassbender as a methodical and highly trained assassin undergoing a crisis of conscience while on assignment in Paris. The trailer is quintessential Fincher: a fast-cut montage of scenes of Fassbender narrating his gradual psychological breakdown filled with sickly yellow hues and icy turquoise lighting, powered by an ominous, thrumming electronic score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

Zenless Zone Zero Looks Like Yet Another HoYoverse Hit | Push Square

We got a glimpse of Zenless Zone Zero during Gamescom Opening Night Live, but the trailer maybe wasn’t the best introduction to the title for those unfamiliar with the release. This gameplay showcase does a much better job of showing off the title, demonstrating its life-sim style lobby where you can play arcade games and manage a VHS store through to its character action combat.

Beloved Star Wars game Dark Forces is back, nearly 30 years on

The Star Wars Dark Forces Remaster finally gives one of the best Star Wars games, albeit often one of the more underappreciated entries, the love it truly deserves. As the origin point for the beloved Jedi Knight series, Star Wars Dark Forces is a classic of the ‘90s, blending Doom and Star Wars to make something truly memorable that has stood the test of time. Now Nightdive Studios, the studio behind the recent Quake 2 Remastered and the System Shock Enhanced Editions, is bringing it back in full 4K, 120fps glory.
