NASA's Crew 7 mission is poised to conclude its six-month residency aboard the International Space Station (ISS), with seven astronauts preparing to return to Earth. Throughout their extended stay, these astronauts have been diligently engaged in conducting several scientific experiments and technology demonstrations aimed at benefiting humanity and advancing NASA's readiness for future space missions.
Scheduled for departure from the ISS on March 11, the Crew 7 members will bid farewell to their space home. The SpaceX Dragon spacecraft is expected to undock from the space station at 11:05 a.m. with the journey culminating in a splashdown off the Florida coast on March 12, assuming suitable weather conditions. This mission represents the culmination of a remarkable journey for NASA astronaut Jasmin Moghbeli, ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen, JAXA astronaut Satoshi Furukawa, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Konstantin Borisov, who embarked on their space voyage on August 26 of the previous year.
Presently, the ISS is hosting a total of 11 astronauts from the United States, Europe, Russia, and Japan, including the recent arrivals of Crew 8 members. NASA has emphasized that Crew 7 is on the verge of completing its nearly six-month science mission, aiming to bring back crucial research findings to Earth for further analysis.
During their tenure aboard the ISS, Crew 7 achieved significant scientific milestones. They conducted studies exploring the effects of spaceflight on immune function, developed innovative methods for eliminating contaminants from wastewater, and investigated the feasibility of cultivating food in the microgravity environment of space. Additionally, the team successfully deployed two CubeSats, which serve as cost-effective alternatives to traditional satellites, contributing to our ongoing efforts to expand our understanding of space technology and exploration.
The Crew 7 mission exemplifies NASA's unwavering commitment to advancing scientific research and technological innovation in space. As the astronauts prepare to bid farewell to their orbiting laboratory and return to Earth, the invaluable insights gained from their experiments are poised to make significant contributions to various scientific disciplines, ultimately benefiting humanity both on and off the planet.

NASA's diminutive BurstCube satellite is now making its way to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard SpaceX's Dragon resupply spacecraft. It lifted off at 4:55 p.m. EDT on Thursday, March 21, from Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, BurstCube is poised to embark on a significant mission.
NASA says as many as four asteroids passed Earth yesterday, with the biggest of them being nearly 140 feet wide, which is comparable to an aircraft in size. These close approaches by Near-Earth Objects (NEOs) like asteroids serve as a reminder of the constant threat posed by celestial objects and why it is crucial to monitor their trajectories. Using its advanced space and ground-based telescopes, NASA has revealed that another asteroid is expected to fly past Earth tomorrow, March 22. Know all about this close encounter.
In the last few days, we've seen numerous asteroids come close to Earth. Just yesterday, as many as four space rocks passed the planet by a close margin. Although none of them impacted the surface, their close approaches are a reminder of the need to constantly monitor these asteroids for potential impact scenarios. This job falls to NASA's Center for Near-Earth Object Studies or CNEOS, an organization that keeps an eye on Near-Earth Objects (NEOs) such as asteroids and comets. With the help of its advanced tech, NASA says an aircraft-sized asteroid is expected to pass by Earth today, March 20. Know all about this close encounter.
NASA says as many as four asteroids passed Earth yesterday and all of them did so by close distances. The biggest of them was Asteroid 2024 BD7 which had a width of almost 140 feet, making it almost as big as an aircraft. Now, the US Space Agency has revealed that just one asteroid has been tracked in its orbit which will make its closest approach to Earth today, March 19. However, it is bigger than all of the asteroids that passed the planet yesterday! From size, speed to distance of approach, know all about this building-sized asteroid.
As many as two asteroids passed Earth yesterday. While one of them was the size of a house with a width of 56 feet, the other was smaller and almost as big as a bus. Although both of these space rocks passed the planet closely, NASA had already tracked them in their orbit and confirmed that they would not impact the surface. This is possible due to NASA employing telescopes such as Pans-STARRS1 in Maui, Hawaii, and Catalina Sky Survey near Tucson, Arizona, to detect near-Earth objects like asteroids and comets. It also uses ground-based radar to collect accurate information about an asteroid's trajectory and attributes. Using this advanced tech, the US Space Agency has shed light on an asteroid that is predicted to pass Earth today, March 14.
Stars are born in chaotic and fascinating environments, and scientists are eager to understand more about these processes. And at the forefront of this exploration is US space agency NASA's James Webb Space Telescope. Ever since its launch, it is helping astronomers see these celestial events like never before.
Former PlayStation executive Shawn Layden has addressed his grievances about exclusivity on the PS5 and shared why it doesn’t sit right with the modern-day game industry, where budgets are ballooning and layoffs are rampant.
PlayStation-backed game studio, Deviation Games, has closed.
It’s time to see which PS5, PS4, PS VR2, PS VR, and free-to-play games topped the download charts last month. February’s PS5 list saw players doing their part to save democracy and humankind from extinction with new releases Helldivers 2 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth storming the top three in both US and EU regions. The bone-crushing new release Legendary Tales surged the PS VR2 list breaking the top three of most downloads in both US and EU regions.
With the help of its advanced ground and space-based telescopes, NASA has revealed that as many as four asteroids are expected to pass Earth by a close margin today, March 8. Most of these asteroids revolve around the Sun in their orbits but they can come close to the planet on certain occasions. This happens when an asteroid interacts with a large planet's gravitational field which can send it tumbling towards the planet for potential impact. Thus, it is imperative to keep an eye on these asteroids to minimize the uncertainties around their close approaches.
