may soldier on as one of the most beloved role-playing games of all time, but that doesn't mean that it's perfect. Aside from the various bugs and glitches that have plagued the game since its release, one of the longest-standing complaints is that the artificial intelligence governing the game's NPCs isn't all that compelling, resulting in enemies that don't require strategy or skill to defeat. Fortunately, a new mod has taken aim at the problem.
Created by Nexus Mods user JaySerpa, the «NPCs Take Cover — Smarter Anti-Cheese AI» mod overhauls how enemies behave, allowing them to pose more of a threat to players. Once installed, the mod will allow enemies to take more advanced actions when faced with a bow-wielding player. This includes taking cover from incoming fire, repositioning to more advantageous locations, and moving around once they've reached a more secure place, making them harder to hit.
The mod was created in response to the common practice of «cheesing» encounters in, wherein players chip away at enemies' health from a position that can't be reached by NPCs. Foes would simply charge forward with little to no self-preservation. While the mechanical tweaks included in the «NPCs Take Cover» mod are appealing, JaySerpa went one step further by including 200 custom voice lines that call out players for incorporating «cheesing» methods. Firing projectiles from a hard-to-reach location will prompt NPCs to sprout lines such as, "," "," and ""
«NPCs Take Cover» isn't the only mod designed to fundamentally overhaul 's combat. Since its release in 2011, a plethora of mods have been created to enhance battles. These include everything from converting the combat system to resemble that seen in to physics-based melee hits that allow for «accurate» skirmishes. The modding community around is so committed to the game that certain modsinclude new areas, quests, and NPCs.

The franchise is one of the most iconic in the entire video game industry and one talented fan wants to remind the community how far the franchise has come since its humble start on the PlayStation One. While many other video game series that began on Sony's first console have been either forgotten or dormant, Capcom's survival horror games have only improved in quality over the years, bar the occasional stumble in the mid-2000s. With modern titles boasting some of the best graphics around, it's easy to forget its roots.
's omnipresent narrator may have found their way into the hearts of the game's community, but Larian Studios briefly flirted with bringing in an exceptionally experienced Dungeon Master to dictate the experience. Through players' adventures through the Forgotten Realms, the voice of the narrator, played by veteran actor Amelia Tyler, accompanies every major decision and moment in the story, chronicling every action and choice. While Tyler has earned plenty of praise for her performance, one of the most beloved content creators almost took on the role.
Red Dead Redemption 2 has received its first update in more than a year, and it finally squashes a pesky bug that players have been saddled with for far too long.
Henry Cavill's time as Geralt may have come to an end but enthusiasts wanting to continue his adventure in can now do so with a shockingly accurate visual mod. Following the announcement that Cavill would step into the role of the titular Witcher in Netflix's live-action series, fans of the books and video games were skeptical about his portrayal. Yet after proving his commitment to the role, a large portion of the community now views his face as the default Geralt.
For players having trouble with the overbearing difficulty of 's hardest operations, the game's newest booster could offer an easy solution. As part of 's ongoing battle pass system, the recently added Cutting Edge Warbond has introduced several new weapons, armor pieces, and cosmetics to the game — and, while not every new piece of equipment has proven to be effective in every situation, the Warbond does hold some potent options for high-difficulty missions.
The latest patch for is a relatively minor hotfix to mend some bugs in the game but one improvement should come as a welcome fix for players tired of hearing Minthara gossip about Gale. Once players recruit both of the aforementioned characters, it's made clear that there's no love lost between the Drow Paladin and the Human Wizard. This general distrust manifests itself as snide comments and general distrust but one particular line of dialogue eventually began to irk players, especially when Minthara goes on about it endlessly.
is already impressing players with its hyper-detailed character creation system but one fan may have taken the toolkit a little far. Before starting out their adventure to slay all manner of gigantic monsters and collect plenty of powerful weapons, Capcom's fantasy RPG tasks players with the difficult challenge of creating a character that best embodies their playstyle. While many will choose to create something bold and brave to keep with the setting, others like to have a little more fun with the system.
may be a game about saving or destroying the galaxy far, far away but its latest update asks players to take a break and hang out with their in-game romantic partner. Despite being over a decade old, Bioware's massive MMO continues to impress its community with substantial content updates and seasons filled with new events, missions, locations, and characters. While wooing NPCs may not be at the top of everyone's to-do list, the latest patch gives those smooth-talking rogues more opportunities to work their magic.
While may currently be devouring players' lives with its excellent reimagining of the classic story, one mini-game is proving so captivating that even Square Enix can envision making it even bigger. One of the major positives about the latest entry in the so-called «Remake Trilogy» is the addition of several carefully designed mini-games that both flesh out the world and prove to be a hoot in their own right. There's a good variety on offer but none has gained a following quite like the card game Queen's Blood.
makes a point of throwing droves of enemies at players but those who do their best to avoid combat may be shocked to learn that enemies have a few extra tools in their arsenals to detect sneaky players. During some of the game's larger open-world missions, Helldivers have the option to engage with roving bands of foes or, if they're careful, sneak past without raising the alarm. That's easier said than done, especially when the Terminids can use more than one of their sense to track their prey.
Development on 's PC release is progressing, so much so that its launch may be a lot closer than fans originally suspected. After the latest mainline entry in Square Enix's long-running franchise managed to divide the fanbase due to its PlayStation 5 exclusivity, those who lacked Sony's consoles have been forced to wait it out. Fortunately, Clive's adventure in Valisthea will soon be available on PC, presumably with a host of performance tweaks and graphical improvements.
