Motorola today announced the US availability of its Razr 2023 and Moto Edge 2023 smartphones along with a new way to disconnect from your device called Moto Unplugged. Motorola first debuted the mid-ranged Razr alongside the premium $999 Razr+ in June. Both it and the Moto Edge began shipping overseas earlier this year and they've now found their way to North America. Here's the flipside on these affordably priced phones.
Motorola made a big splash with the Razr+ and Razr earlier this year. The Razr+ is a premiere, flagship-level flip phone while the Razr is meant more as a way to get younger buyers to adopt folding phones. Both share the same basic body style but vary in specs and materials. The Razr comes in four colors: Cherry Blossom, Sage Green, Summer Lilac, and Vanilla Cream. The outer surfaces are covered in vegan leather, which lends some grip. When open, the Razr measures 6.72 by 2.91 by 0.29 inches, and when closed it's more compact at 3.47 by 2.91 by 0.62 inches. It weighs 6.65 ounces.
The small outer display is for what Motorola calls digital minimalists. It's a tight 1.5-inch pOLED screen with a 60Hz refresh rate. It provides access to glanceable information like the date, time, and weather, but advanced interactions are limited. In comparison, the large secondary screen of the Razr+ feels like a whole phone. Meanwhile, the main inner display stretches 6.9 inches with a fast refresh rate of 144Hz and is encased in an aluminum frame.
The Razr is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It supports sub-6GHz 5G (but not mmWave), Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3. A 4,200mAh battery keeps it chugging along. The phone handles 30W wired charging, but a pokey 5W wireless charging. The phone has a 64MP main shooter with OIS and laser autofocus, a combined 13MP ultra-wide and macro lens, and a 32MP front camera. You can capture 4K30 video from either of the two rear cameras.
The phone will be available for pre-order on Motorola's website, where it will be sold unlocked, starting October 12. General availability begins October 19. Motorola says plenty of carriers will sell the phone, including AT&T, Boost Infinite, Boost Mobile, Consumer Cellular, Metro by T-Mobile, T-Mobile, UScellular, and Xfinity Mobile. Carrier pricing may vary. The retail price is $699.99, but it will be reduced by $100 to $599.99 during the launch period. The Razr+, which has been on sale for several months, costs a heftier $999.99.
Just like the Razr is a distilled version of the Razr+, the Moto Edge is a downgraded version of the $799.99 Moto Edge+. This phone is a regular slab-style device with a large 6.6-inch screen. The display packs a 2,400 by 1,080 resolution for a density

Not just the Moon, but NASA has been sending missions to asteroids, other planets, and even other moons in the solar system as of late. The US space agency recently launched the Psyche mission to a metal-rich asteroid, while the collected samples from the Bennu asteroid also returned to Earth last month. It has also been working on the Artemis program, NASA's first manned lunar mission since Apollo 17. However, perhaps the most ambitious mission is the Dragonfly, the first-ever mission to the surface of another ocean world. As part of it, NASA will send a spacecraft to Titan, Jupiter's largest moon.

It may sound very traditional, but Tinder thinks there is some value to be had by those looking for a date to get recommendations from friends and family. Yes, Tinder has just rolled out a feature that will allow your pals and kin to actually recommend someone they think can be a suitable date or partner for you. Will it work? The logic being that since your friends and family know you best, they are eminently qualified to find a suitable match for you. If nothing else, they certainly passed the friend test and now it is up to you to prove them right, or wrong!
