Mortal Kombat: Onslaught now available

A new gameplay trailer has been released showing off the upcoming Omni-Man DLC, which is inspired by the Invincible comic book and Prime Video adult animated series and features the voice of actor J. K. Simmons. It will be released on November 9 as the first playable character in the Kombat Pack.

Mortal Kombat 1’s first DLC character, Omni-Man, is available to download from November 9, Warner Bros. Games and developer NetherRealm have announced.

NetherRealm Studios has a big new update available for Mortal Kombat 1, which adds a long-request quality-of-life feature: tagging moves. Players can now tag moves from the Move List to the screen, making it easier to practice them. The Move Last will also remember if Advanced View is enabled and return to the last used tab.

Mortal Kombat 1 recently released to some great reviews, and while fans are generally having a great time with the game – not every decision has been met with a positive response. A recent update to the game had a patch note stating “Halloween Fatality added to the Premium Store”, but no such fatalities were found within the game itself.

Andrew Morgado, the voice actor for Mortal Kombat 1‘s Reptile, seems to have accidentally revealed that the T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day will be making its way to the game’s roster. Speaking about working on the game as a voice actor, Morgado talks about meeting various other actors, like Ronda Rousey. He goes on to reveal that Robert Patrick was present at the studio to do work for T-1000.

Mortal Kombat 1 is set in a new timeline written by Fire God Liu Kang, which means certain relationships and identities have changed. Kuai Liang is now Scorpion, Mileena and Kitana are sisters, and Tarkatan is a disease, not a people. That leaves the question of where the Kombat Kids fit in, but leakers may have found the answer in datamined DLC voice lines which were proven true by the Omni-Man trailer.

As a nineties kid, I didn’t escape the Mortal Kombat craze that ruled the world at the tail end of millennia. Seeing Scorpion’s familiar face is pure nostalgia fuel, so I never miss an opportunity to test out every new addition to the franchise. Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, however, is not what I expected from this long-running series—it’s a strategic auto-battler. Don’t worry; the good old fatalities are still there and as satisfying as ever.
