MLB The Show 24 players are reporting that the Switch version is prone to frequent crashes, especially in the popular Diamond Dynasty mode.
Numerous lengthy threads on the game’s official forum and the MLB The Show page on Reddit are full of players reporting that the game is continually crashing for them.
In a Reddit thread called “Can anyone play on Switch currently?” Reddit user GTI_88 said: “Currently I can’t play [Diamond Dynasty] at all. Every time I go to start the first moment in the program the game completely crashes. Tried last night, tried again this morning.”
“Yeah, mine still isnt working either,” added user NewYorkMets22. “Very frustrating. Tried periodically through the day yesterday and again now. It let me create a team and go to the DD main page, but when pressing A to get through the tutorial, once you get to where the moment is supposed to load, the game crashes and says a software error occurred.”
“I bought yesterday and only select things are working,” replied user mtob99. “I think it’s specific moments that cause the game to crash as well as the Jeter content and conquests. The game needs an update to work.”
Nintendo Life and Pure Xbox writer PJ O’Reilly also mentioned the issue on X. “It’s currently not working properly at all, and there’s zero comms about it,” he explained. “Most modes dump you straight to Switch homescreen when you select them.”
A thread called Switch Crashes on the official MLB The Show forum has numerous players noting that the game isn’t working for them either.
“Twice now in the middle of a game, the game has crashed totally and goes back to the dashboard closing the game entirely,” user addybojangles said.
“Similar issue,” replied Nuclear Beany. “Crashed five times during Conquest games. Super frustrating, haven’t been able to play and make any team affinity progress. Done every single troubleshoot and nothing works. Hopefully they get this fixed now.”
“This has happened to me a handful of times as well, during Conquest game each time,” added ArtVandelay90. “I keep feeling bad whenever I score more because I feel I’m extending the game and increasing the chance I’ll get kicked to the dashboard, so I want to finish the game as quickly as possible.”
“I legit can’t play any mode,” said user burnsy2191. “Crashes instantly every time I try anything.”
A separate thread called Nintendo Switch MLB the Show 24 Crash features another group of players confirming issues, specifically with the Diamond Dynasty mode.
So far the only acknowledgement of the issue appears to be a message from a developer, posted on this thread.
“Thank you for your reports,” it reads. “We are aware of the issue and are actively working on a fix, but we don’t have an estimate on the fix yet.”
