Minecraft has released snapshot 24w11a for Java and 1.20.80.22 for Bedrock Edition, which adds the new Mace weapon. Minecraft gets regular updates with new content and fixes to improve the experience. Before that, Mojang releases snapshots for players to test features and give feedback before adding them to Minecraft.
Last year, Mojang released a new command with Minecraft snapshot 23w51b, allowing players to change the size of spiders and make them even scarier. This year, snapshot 24w06a added the Wind Charge, a new fun item for Minecraft players who like to do parkour. Making Minecraft's world a little more challenging, other snapshots brought the hostile mobs Breeze and Bogged, a Skeleton variant. Now Minecraft has another snapshot with exciting features, tweaks, and improvements.
The new Mace weapon is available in snapshot 24w11a for Minecraft: Java Edition and in Preview 1.20.80.22 for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. With the Mace, players can smash enemies using a new mechanic where jumping down toward an enemy and effectively hitting them will negate any accumulated damage from the fall. If there are other mobs near the one hit by the weapon, they will be knocked back by the Mace's force. Like other weapons, the Mace's durability reduces over time. If Minecraft players wish to increase the effectiveness of the Mace, they can use it in conjunction with the Wind Charge item, and launch even more powerful attacks on enemies.
Snapshot 24w11a and Preview 1.20.80.22 added more content like the Heavy Core and the Breeze Rod. These two new items, when combined, form the Mace. It's worth noting that to restore the Mace's durability, players can repair it using a Breeze Rod on an anvil. Other additions include new banner patterns, armor trim templates, and two new Trial Chambers. Their Vaults have also received changes, adjusting the loot table to address players' inventory management issues. Minecraft's new wolf variants have undergone minor adjustments as well. The Rusty Wolf now appears in all jungle biomes, the Spotted Wolf in all savannahs, and the Striped Wolf in all Badlands biomes.
With the addition of the Mace, the item joins the list of melee weapons available in Minecraft, like swords and tridents. Unlike other weapons, the Mace adds a different component of fun with the mechanics of negating fall damage and the knockback effect caused on enemies. It is expected that the Mace will be part of update 1.21, Minecraft's next major release, further increasing anticipation for its arrival.

For a moment, parts of North America will go dark on April 8 due to a total solar eclipse — when the moon, passing in front of the sun, will block all light. The last time this happened was in 2017, and it won’t happen again until 2044. It’s a moment you won’t want to miss — even if you don’t have the essential and safe eclipse glasses.
Minecraft is hardly realistic, with a world made up entirely of cubes. Even the mobs are made of blocks. But Warner Bros. and Mojang have teamed up to make a live-action movie, leading many to wonder what the hell it'll look like. Will Jack Black, AKA Steve, be a monstrous cube creature? Will it just be a bunch of dudes surviving in otherwise ordinary-looking woods?
Minecraft's annual April Fools gag is upon us once again, and this time it's a celebration of the game's most useless item that offers so many new features it might as well be a proper new update.
Minecraft's highly anticipated April Fools' Day update is here, and the developers have themed it around Poisonous Potatoes. Mojang Studios is known for its funky updates on April 1 every year, and this time around its focus seems to be on an item that is considered to be the most useless in Minecraft.
An inventive Minecraft player has crafted a fully playable Tetris game within their in-game world, using Redstone to power the automated mini-game. The sandbox world of the massively popular game from developer Mojang offers players a wide variety of things to do within its enormous procedurally-generated worlds. Minecraft has regularly added new content to the game, introducing more animals and enemies for players to encounter, new types of biomes, and a variety of new items and objects to find. However, one of the game's mechanics offers a unique kind of creativity.
As a game built around the very spirit of creativity, it's not surprising that the Minecraft community frequently shows off some incredible creations, though one project recently shared by a talented fan presents what Minecraft itself might look like if it was a fully 2D side-scrolling game instead of the huge 3D sandbox it's known as. Various fan games inspired by Minecraft in the past have taken the form of such a 2D game, and even some official artwork for the game pays homage to this classic 2D style.
A Minecraft player has shared a bizarre theory about the origin of the villagers, as they claim they are mushrooms. Minecraft is a game whose main target is children, but the sandbox surprises with its surprisingly deep lore. Part of this is due to the theories that Minecraft players have created over the years about characters, items, and objects.
It seems that a native PlayStation 5 version of Minecraft is releasing sometime soon, after a popular Twitter account that investigates the backend of Sony's digital store claimed as much.Minecraft's full release on the PS5 has long been awaited by fans, as Xbox users await a similar launch.
Minecraft might finally be getting a native release on the PS5 soon. The game, currently only available on current-gen platforms through the use of backwards compatibility for the PS4 and Xbox versions, hasn’t seen a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S release.
It looks like Minecraft could finally be getting a native PS5 release, as several files have been spotted on the PlayStation Store's backend that indicate a current-gen version is coming soon.
Minecraft: Java Edition has released a new snapshot, and thanks to it, players can now enchant the Mace. Since last year, Mojang has been revealing some of the content that Minecraft players will see in the sandbox's next major update. Some celebrated additions have been the addition of the armor trims and the wolf variants, the latter of which many players have been wanting for years. But the addition that has Minecraft players talking the most in recent days is the Mace, growing the list of weapons players can get in the game.
