It feels a little odd to say Barbie is back as the iconic doll never really went away. Introduced to the world in 1959, people have been playing with and collecting Barbies ever since. There's no doubting the spotlight Barbie was thrust back into in 2023 thanks to her first live action movie though, and naturally, Mattel has been trying to ride that wave ever since. The latest manifestation of that is a brand new Barbie collection dubbed Mini BarbieLand which has shrunk Barbie, her friends, and the world around her down to a far smaller size.
After 65 years of seeing Barbie and her supporting cast in almost every role imaginable, it's difficult to fathom how Mattel continues to come up with new ideas. It has managed to do so via its new collection as I'm struggling to recall something like this ever happening to Barbie - being small and compact was always Polly Pocket's department. Barbie has now stepped into Mattel's miniature spotlight, and the Mini BarbieLand collection has kicked off with 11 things to choose from.
Topping the bill are five sets that provide Barbie with ways to get around. Whether you're traveling around BarbieLand by car or leaving it on a plane or boat, this new collection has options. All five of the vehicle sets include a miniature Barbie doll as well as various other accessories. The 4x4 set, for example, comes with a tiny tent, implying that Barbie is off on a camping trip.
Barbie's Dreamhouse has been shrunk down to size so it can be a part of Mattel's Mini BarbieLand. As well as the house, the set also comes with a 1.5-inch high mini Barbie doll and accessories which include a working elevator.
If the great outdoors is a little much for you, even when it's this small, there's also a Mini BarbieLand campervan set, again with a doll included and also a little bath for Barbie should she need it. The second car set, and final vehicle available, is a pink convertible, just like the one in the Barbie Movie. The Barbie's Dreamhouse sets, which are the most elaborate of the options available in the collection, also appear to be based on the design from the film, complete with slides for Barbie to use when navigating between floors.
Part of the wider Mini BarbieLand collection, this particular set is centered around Barbie's pink convertible, similar to the one she drives in the Barbie Movie. The set also includes a mini Barbie and a signpost so she knows which way to go to get to Barbie Way.
The best thing about these sets may well be the price. Unless you're in the market for one of the rarer dolls in Barbie's sprawling collection, buying them has never been all that expensive. The Mini BarbieLand collection follows that trend as even the most expensive set is less than
